Rainbow7 -> Perhaps a bug in bioediting players? (7/28/2006 6:57:16 AM)

In a previous attempt at importing a younger version of Nolan Ryan into my association, I forced retired the older Ryan and then took one of the fictional scrub pitchers and edited him to the same stats as Ryan (with name change). All seemed fine, except at the start of his second season all his stats took a plunge to their intial horrible values.

What the heck is it with Ryan and his ratings?  His seem so different from all the other players in the extreme.

So do you think what I saw with him over the off-season is a bug?  That drop in stats is completely unreasonable.  And it would call into question our ability to edit a player's stats?

There has been talk in other threads by people that have been playing this game for longer that many dealing with hidden potential or something like that. Perhaps that hidden element is what caused this converted scrub's ratings to decline like this?

Scrubs are actually marked internally with a flag denoting them as a scrub which has pervasive impact on the player development model for the player.

In the future use the "Create Player" feature and then edit from there. That will work exactly like you intended.

The problem is that the 'create player' buttons aren't always there.  If I remember correctly, they don't appear in the players screen before the first draft of the association, which is where I like to introduce the players so that everyone gets a chance at drafting them. Would this be an easy addition for you?

Ahh I see. Hmm. This is a tough one. I'll think about it, but it is tricky.

I have added this to 1.25:

- New: You can now create new pitchers and hitters before the start of the initial draft

Thanks.  Much appreciated. This goes some ways toward a workaround for my 'Nolan Ryan situation'.
