Amaroq -> FAO Tigers Roar: 'show real stats' function (7/31/2006 8:14:24 PM)

In respect of the 'brainstorming' rules, I didn't want to hijack the 2008 brainstorming thread with a discussion of a single feature - but I thought this nugget, posted by Tigers Roar, was in the 'close but not quite there' category as an idea, and I wanted to see if anybody had ideas to help polish it.

quote:

Can we have a button to toggle between in season stats and real life stats when looking at the “Modify Rosters & Lineups Page?” Replaying 1927 and when I toggle to the expanded view it would be great to have a button(s) that would switch between current replay stats and real life 1927 stats for all players listed. Currently I have to go card by card to see what the players did in real life. Very time consuming.

I can see where you're going with this - and I think it makes a lot of sense to a manager who is *managing* 1927, after importing the 1927 season.

The question I have is, what does it mean in 1930, four years after you've imported the 1927 season. Since the player's 1930 attributes are based on a 'career projection' from their 1927 form, not based on their 1930 statistics, is it still relevant? If not, what do you show there? If so, how do you prevent the user from 'expecting' the player's 1930 performance if he has an easy toggle to see it?

The best idea I came up with at first glance was to have this new 'show real stats' button only be available during the import year - but I'm sure some of the creative minds on this board can better it, and for all I know Tigers Roar may have had a more detailed plan in mind already.

Comments?

Funny, but I restrict myself from looking at the real life stats for several purposes, mainly for more enjoyable gameplay.
