Heavily scripted animations just for the movie - like I said, a LOT of time was spent creating this by someone.

I imagine they used the full body suit that tracks movement to do the animations. It would be just nuts to script all those movements by hand manually. Or perhaps they have som really good animation tools. Hmm.
