yep. probably a typo. the table lists 72 x 2pdr (octupled) but the text states the armament was increased from 48 to 76. Either a typo or it was 9 octuple mounts + one quad. 72 (8 x 9 mounts ; 4 x 1 mount)

Hmm, possible... "I say, chaps, let's shoehorn in another mount, eh? Oh, not room for another octuple, what? Bad luck! What say you to a quadruple then? Jolly good show!"

given that each KGV had a different arrangement at different times, anything you come up with thats close can't be sniffed at......well sniffed at too hard. [;)]

True. It might fall over... Like Speedy trying to put two and two together...

you don't by chance have any idea of how many 15" guns the RN had in reserve, also were the entire turrents salvaged or did Vanguard use a new turrent design?

Terminus in your mod you have the Lion class being built in 1937 in lieu of the KGV class.  Historically when exactly did the design of the Lion class take place?  I want to hash out a timeline since the Vanguard was a relative of the Lion Class.

A number of Vanguard materials say that the guns were from Glorious and Courageous - beached when they became carriers - and a perfect fit - that there we no other such guns. All the "extra" guns had been fitted to monitors.

Think that falls under "conventional wisdom", i.e. "wrong". As far as I could dig up, the mounts (barbettes and turrets) were from Glorious and Courageous, but the tubes weren't.

So basically then no additional Vanguards, unless R-class BB's are scrapped.  The premise being that Vanguards need the R-class guns, to justify being built in a timely manner.  Just out of curiosity how salvageable were Royal Oak's guns?

Back to the IJN has anyone done a Number 13 class?  I think the poster's name is BigB, if I have name right he has done some extraordinary artwork, in terms of his Tosa and Amagi class.

The one I use is made by Fremen; I think Cobra or BigB did another one...
