I just started playing CoG and enjoying it; however, the rules are a bit hard to digest. My question is about protectorates and regional units bonuses. In order to get the regional bonus units for the Kingdom of Bavaria, I need the provinces of Bavaria, Nuremberg and Tyrolia to be protectorates. The first two are easy, since they are already protectorates. The third has me puzzled. Tyrolia is a home province of Austria and therefore, if it ceded by a treaty I can’t make it a protectorate. How is this accomplished? Am I missing something?

My understanding is Tyrolia does not have to be a protectorate; if it is under your control in some way together with the other component provinces you get the bonus troops.

Thanks... I'll try it out next time I play.

More generally, I think it is not possible to make a protectorate with a conquered province. As France, with 1.2.25, i did not succeed in attaching provinces I conquered to existing protectorates.
Or did I miss something ?

No, you can't attach conquered provinces to countries that are made into protectorates--only other protectorates can be attached in this manner.

The regional bonus units just aren't available whenever one of the provinces is conquered by a country. We've talked about possibly changing these rules in a patch or something, but am not sure whether we'll get to this. It would be nice.
