ffp7175 -> Manager GM/TENDENCIES Settings (8/27/2006 8:06:02 PM)

Just wondering what others use in the following settings when playing a season

Auto Rest Player
Auto Juggle lineup
Auto Injured Players

I replayed the 1920 season and had a lot of the bench warmers getting
200 or more at bats and my lineups were always being adjusted by the computer

and

My lineup was getting changed almost dailey my the computer

i had the following settings

Auto Rest Player when good or worse
Auto Juggle lineup (never juggle lineups) BUT THE COMPUTER DID OFTEN
Auto Injured Players (when minor or worse)

I am trying to get a even number of games for both the starters and bench warmers

thanks
Ridge

The computer will tweak the lineups when it rests a player.  That prevents it from batting the backup catcher 4th when resting the starting catcher who is your best player.

As for the the 200 ABs from backups, I think the Auto rest when good or worse.  The next step down is when players are good so they were getting rested very frequently.  I use tired or worse which gets a good number of ABs for the backups.  Some of the CPU teams will use Worn Out or Worse.

Thats related to 'resting - good'. The basic algorithm it uses is "If all eight players are healthy and rested, use the GM's lineup. If I have to make even one change, rebuild the entire lineup."

So, for example, if your #8 hitter needs a rest, his replacement won't bat #8, with 1-7 unchanged... the AI manager will build its own opinion of a lineup from the eight players provided to it.

You might want to consider either

a.) Auto Rest Player when 'Fair' or 'Tired' will give your starting lineup more at bats and your bench warmers less. It will also give you less 'juggling' of the lineup.

b.) You can use the individual player options 'Lock batting order and position'. When I was doing this, I'd lock my #1, #3, and #4 hitters - if they're in, I want them where I told you to play them!

Yes, I like to lock 1, 3-5 and then just leave it open for the AI to do as much damage as possible.
