ORIGINAL: btaft I am relatively new to the game but I just started a new sc17 and have tried to work up a strategy to keep my CAP from constantly being butchered in the early going and to keep PM supplied. Just interested in some feedback 1) Only fly CAP to protect supply ships coming into or leaving port. Keep grounded and rested at other times (bomb damage seems to be small compared to being gutted by the Zeros 2) Heavily mine and sub patrol PM to protect against bombardment missions 3) Move several AA groups to PM to provide defense in lieu of CAP 4) Allow operational/flak losses to eat up IJN bombers (An assult by 70 zeros and 5 Bettys is not something to be terribly worried about) 5) Heavily mine and sub patrol GG as well 6) Use LBA for Naval attack to pick off damaged bombabrdment ships and transport fleets Any feedback is appreciated Against the AI, the first thing to do is to load up 2 brigades + HQ of the 7th australian div and ship it to PM ASAP, give the transports a couple of MSW as escorts (AND air transport, with C-47:s, the New Guinea brd from Cairns + some supply, to Buna to prevent jap capture of that base). Then use Lexington and Yorktown as sneak raiders against jap ap:s and bombardmentgroups, avoiding jap cv:s until better cv-fighters are avalible. If you have the opportunity, use Lexingtons or Yorktown figthers as LR-cap over PM to help the LBA, and get some experience.
