Fantastic!

JeffroK -> RE: RHS Web Page (8/29/2006 7:08:28 AM)

Looks great.

How do I buy a copy of the book.

Will there be "normal" maps or will they be WITP maps only?

Maybe some instructions on how to download, before I have to wait 10 minutes for the download and do I have to download maps AND scenario or are they together?

Nice but you guys should review the zip files from RHS allied ship art set.zip & RHS japanese ship art set.zip

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think that there needs to be another zip file in every folder of the original zip that contains all files from that folder again and also those thumbs.db files are useless too.
You've blown those files up to the double of the size they need to have!
Very bad for traffic. Well only for the guy who pays the traffic[:D]

marovici -> RE: RHS Web Page (8/31/2006 10:27:14 PM)

good stuff guys. Looks very good.

BigDuke66 -> RE: RHS Web Page (9/1/2006 3:18:55 AM)

Sorry that was a bit wrong.
I mean "RHS japanese ship art set.zip" & "RHS allied ship art set.zip"
So both art packs are affected.

CobraAus -> RE: RHS Web Page (9/1/2006 5:23:32 AM)

found both at fault and fixed and replaces zip on site

ATCSMike -> RE: RHS Web Page (9/29/2006 9:19:32 AM)

Cool all the files in one place,[:D] but his web page/server must be located in the Alaskan Interior/Bush. Downloads are slow and the connection drops alot. [:(]
Anyone else having this problem?

el cid again -> RE: RHS Web Page (9/29/2006 11:50:31 AM)

It actually probably IS in Alaska - but not in the bush. There are only two cities in Alaska - Anchorage and Fairbanks - and about a dozen towns - and almost 300 villages (number declining). But Alaska used to have a company called ALASCOM (well - it still does - but it isn't owned by itself any more) - which is the world leader in communications for remote sites. Many countries use its methods. Anyway - Anchorage is probably where the site is - and it is fully in the world - communications wise. What sometimes goes wrong is we lose our fibre optic link due to a seaquake- and in that case we have to use satellites - which impose a delay of about 1/4 second each way on every handshake (it is 25,000 miles to a communications satellite - and the signal goes both ways - so it is 50,000 miles - more than 1/4 of the speed of light in a second). Have not heard that happened lately - but it might have.

witpqs -> RE: RHS Web Page (9/29/2006 9:25:57 PM)

For FTP the satellite delay will not hurt you, but for HTML it probably will.

ATCSMike -> RE: RHS Web Page (9/30/2006 8:14:31 AM)

Sounds like your here in Alaska.. ALASCOM is now ACS/ALASCOM, but goes by ACS. You forgot the city of Juneau and where I live North Pole. [:D] The number of towns is probably more than a dozen and the village number is probably correct, though I haven't counted them lately. [:D] Most places in Alaska including the larger bush communities like Nome, Barrow, King Salmon all have high speed broadband with ACS or GCI cable.

Anyway stuff happens. I finally got the files downloaded.

ATCSMike -> RE: RHS Web Page (9/30/2006 8:45:10 AM)

I'm kind of confused on some of the files. I downloaded all of the files and put them in individual directories so I won't get lost. But it happened. The thing I'm seeing and is confusing is that some of the newer archives have older dated files and some of the older archives have newer dated files. Example:  archive date:9/22/06 with files dated 9/6/06 and archive date 9/15/06 with files dated 9/19/06. I've also noticed that some archives have the same file/s included between them with the same file name, size and date but the time stamp is different.

How should I install the files in this situation. I've read the included install text files but still confused because of the above. [&:]

Thanks,

Mike [sm=00000506.gif]

Will do. Have to dig them out.

ATCSMike -> RE: RHS Web Page (10/1/2006 7:34:26 AM)

These are the ones I was talking about. I think I got them all.

Plane tops-sides fix-1:zip is dated 22 Aug 06. The 3 files (Allied) are dated 5/8/06.

Plane tops-sides: zip is dated 20 Aug 06. The 6 files are 3 Allied dated 6/9/06 and 3 Japan dated 3/6/06. The 3 Japan seem to be no problem since I don't see any updates.

The install instructions text say to install the plane tops-side zip which has newer dated files but is in an older dated zip file, while the fix-1 zip has older dated files but in a newer dated zip file isn't mentioned. Being as it is named as a fix archive and has a newer archive date, you would think it's a fix for the other, though it has older files. I hope you can understand what I just said. [:D]

There is also a 4.31 planesides-top zip dated 22 Aug 06 with 3 Allied files dated 8/22/06. Is this file needed?

I think you can see the confusion here.

I was originally using the RHS Handbook to do the install but it metions files that are either no longer there or appear to have been renamed. I think that was part of the problem. [sm=Christo_pull_hair.gif]

I found another set of instructions in the Basic Install directory and it made alot more sense.

ok have had a look and I will see if can explain
I think wat is happening is that the zip file were done before or about the time that the RHS web site was created hence the time stamp differance 22-8 was the day I uploaded to the web site I found I had done two uploads of same file again this would have happened whilst sorting out the Folder structure othe web site I will delete the one in the main install folder
for install purposes you need the basic air side to art to start with from the basic folder
then the 4.31 update this art is used for all scenarios apart from EOS which has its own air art set found in the EOS scenario folder the most recent is the combined services cameo pak

if you are playing EOS use the cameo pak as EOS has differant aircraft to the other scenarios
it only effects japanese air

hope that helps

ATCSMike -> RE: RHS Web Page (10/2/2006 5:57:40 AM)

Roger...

I took a look at the Allied bmp files in both Plane tops-sides fix-1 and Plane tops-sides, which I probably should done 1st. The files are the same except for a couple of the planes. Now I know which ones to install without problems, I hope. [sm=00000289.gif]

A question about the scenarios. Do you have to play them one at a time ie: play one, finish it then start another or can you install them all and then pick the one you want to play?

Mike

el cid again -> RE: RHS Web Page (10/2/2006 6:03:16 AM)

You can install them all and play whatever one you want.

There is this exception:

IF you play RHSEOS you need DIFFERENT plane art. So if you put in regular plane art, you cannot play EOS
until you change it - or the planes will look funny! Vice versa, if you put in EOS plane art, you cannot play
any other scenario unless you change the plane art.

There is an installer utility that permits switching between RHS, CHS and stock art and maps too.
I am not sure if it permits changing plane art to the EOS level (yet) or not?

Just copy the plane art to the Art folder - whatever you want - and you get that. Keep the source in its own RHS folder - and you can just copy any time. I don't need installers - so I don't use em.

ATCSMike -> RE: RHS Web Page (10/2/2006 7:04:52 AM)

Thanks. I did find a Mod Select batch file on the web page but it ask for a file called Choice.exe to run. Haven't found it yet.

Though I think I will play them one at a time so as not to cause problems.

Mike

Hornsby -> RE: RHS Web Page (10/2/2006 2:20:15 PM)

As ATCSMike did, I found that when I clicked on the Modselect.exe it asked for Choice.exe. Should I copy Choice.exe from my CHS folder?
