This appears to be new with 1.37, although I actually suspect it dates back to when you took away the "do you want him to tag" question from a runner on first base.
But this happened twice in the space of a single game (once for me without asking and once for my AI opponent), so it may be something that would come up fairly frequently.
Runner on 1B (my runner had 49 speed!), and the hit-and-run was DEFINITELY NOT selected. Batter lined out to RF (he flied out to CF for the AI), and the runner on first base tagged and took off for second.
Thrown out (I presume easily) in both cases.
