the ship speed will be a real problem for convoys... imagine hundreds of bombers in sicily and sardinia... and you will have a real massacre.... i think we should increase the transports speed to avoid that... not to 6/6 speed but 4/4 shoul be right i think.

and having stukas as dive bombers they will be too lethal for convoys...

Just reduce the accuracy of the aircraft and/or their devices then. Especially the Italian ones [;)]

The fact is, until you can actually try it out it's all speculation anyway. As I said, the main thing is the map ...

argaur -> RE: Changing the scale (9/22/2006 11:00:29 AM)

yes, the map will be horrible, defining each hex and each hexside... a lot of work, i will begin perhaps today, but i´m new to editor, so i´m going to be slow.

Terminus -> RE: Changing the scale (9/22/2006 5:02:13 PM)

You do know that none of the WitP editors are used to define the map of pwhex.dat, right?

argaur -> RE: Changing the scale (9/22/2006 7:34:36 PM)

and the WITO enhanced editor?

Nikademus -> RE: Changing the scale (9/22/2006 7:48:14 PM)

No. Its primary improvement are quick edit buttons for groups and ship classes to ships. Andrew Brown is the person you want to talk too about altering map data in the pwhex. [again]

argaur -> RE: Changing the scale (9/22/2006 9:05:51 PM)

so what is this? [&:]

Beren,

Where did you get that WitP Enhanced Editor? I would love to have a copy of it.

Nikademus -> RE: Changing the scale (9/22/2006 9:48:53 PM)

lol, another editor from which i thought you were referring too instead of this one. [:D]

I have been following the development of this editor from the first day I saw it mentioned
in one of the threads the download link and development site is

http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/a/jamesa62/witp_editor.html

its not associated with matrix but is based on on the new editor version plus the ability to
edit the PWHEX file that I asked for
It is still in Beta testing but it works and more features that I had asked for such as when you high light a ship or air in the data base the art for it will be shown
changes are added and need to be download almost weekly

Captain Cruft -> RE: Changing the scale (9/23/2006 3:38:08 AM)

Mr James Armstrong deserves a medal.

Good luck with the pwhex. I don't know if this new editor helps with matching up hex-sides for adjacent hexes but when I was experimenting with this stuff that was the biggest problem ...

el cid again -> RE: Changing the scale (9/23/2006 6:55:34 AM)

The best solution is to look at the map. With practice you can SEE the mismatched hex sides.

tanjman -> RE: Changing the scale (9/23/2006 2:58:35 PM)

Thanks for the link CobraAus! I'll definitely download it and try it out.

It's a very cool editor, even if it does still have a few tiny problems...

CobraAus -> RE: Changing the scale (9/24/2006 12:10:58 AM)

due to a problem with the hex overlay took 3 days to reset the base location and transport system to new hex location but back on track now
some samples to show were we are at now
panels 10 15 and 16 are done and ready for real work in PWHEX and OOB panel 11 half done
we some more calculatio last night the scale is a tad over 30NM hex about the same as UV

Monter_Trismegistos -> RE: Changing the scale (9/24/2006 12:22:11 AM)

Correction of names of Polish cities: Swinoujscie not Swindoujscie, Szczecin not Szoecin.

Also it would be better if you would use borders from 1945 not from 2006.

CobraAus -> RE: Changing the scale (9/24/2006 12:23:05 AM)

sample 3
now as work progress take place what will happen the white dots will be removed and a lot of the base names will also be removed to stop clutter - where a base icon covers a base name on the art the name will be removed or moved
I have created a single hex pathway at top of map (breaks land link between Germany and Denmark) to allow German TF's to move into the North Sea - artistic and tactical licence)

PS If anyone else wants to try their hand at creatin a scenario based on this map let me know
and I will make draft map available

Captain Cruft -> RE: Changing the scale (9/24/2006 3:17:56 AM)

A couple of spelling mistakes in England:

Ipswitch should be Ipswich
Waymouth should be Weymouth

Also, if there is to be a base where Ipswich is it should be Harwich. Cruisers and destroyers were based there. Ipswich is an inland river port ...

I'm not sure about Brighton and Weymouth either, in terms of naval significance.

Still, looking great [:)]

Hi
Sp. on map

Mediterranian = Mediterranean

Iron Duke -> RE: Changing the scale (9/24/2006 11:31:38 AM)

Hi

Couple of questions

Where are the edges of the map ie how far N,S,W and east does it stretch ?
Is it for UV OR WitP engine ?

cheers

el cid again -> RE: Changing the scale (9/24/2006 11:37:58 AM)

Remember the map has code limited boundaries - 148 x 148 hexes. I think WITP uses 144 x 144.

CobraAus -> RE: Changing the scale (9/24/2006 11:57:15 AM)

Couple of questions

wil fix speeling

the map is for WITP engine using panels 10-11 15-16 it will be a user defined x-y block
