My breaking down my forces into small strike and dash formations with absinions and morrocan and bedowine foot infantry preform flanking withdrawls into my core forces entrenchment line

Nice constant flow of northwesterly movement from the enemy which produced an extreme amount of BANZAI charges to contend with

I'm now on my turn 16 of the Buna Pass battle and its getting tough, eventhou I did another para drop my front line in sections for this assault will never make their objectives.

One thing I hadn't considered before is how the japanese can do banzai "CHARGES" while still receiving their entrenched and fortified status bonuses? low value VH's but high value fannatical defence?

Mines upto 4 hexes deep!! entrenched troops and small mortars, embedded caves, bunkers, blockhouses, and the 14 visablity allows them to converge fire over the boundry of the minefield.

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/23/2006 8:23:02 PM)

I'm just lucky that most of the dropzones missed,or overshot enemy consentrations

Think this end of battle will possibly be when I go to the european area of operations!!

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 8:11:24 AM)

These are shots of turn 21-22,their HQ has been dead since turn 11 from above average efforts of the paratroopers droped on turns 5-7

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 8:17:01 AM)

I must add again that I don't understand HOW their heavy machineguns and mortar crews are not getting seperated with their varied rates of travel throu this kind of terrain?
All of their entrenched troop and mobile units of support are converging on the VH's and IF I get anything more than a draw I'll be really supprized!

[image]local://upfiles/13350/D9DFB4F61A794B0D8A580004A5D07BE6.jpg[/image]

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 8:21:45 AM)

It also feels like the AI for the japs doesn't get a mobility restriction of "MOST DIRECT LINE TO OBJECTIVES" that C&C "on" is giving my forces??? They seem to be free to go any direction that lets them engauge me where ever possible??

[image]local://upfiles/13350/E7EF4AF8BF93400CA88B04FDCADF324A.jpg[/image]

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 8:26:58 AM)

Its really showing this lack of restriction on the northern forward VH's, the enemy troops tracked diagonallyfrom the south like 12 to 18 hexes

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 8:34:03 AM)

And I don't know what I should do here because I sent a vetran platoon of commandos on a platoon of tanks, escorted by Priests carrying a section of infantry mortars and Bren squads supposedly overwatched by two snipers. they got nowhere fast, the snipers couldn't see where any of the fire was coming from!

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 8:42:24 AM)

"SPIT" Man,I've been killing them by the bus load and yet I still don't think I'll be able to hold the northern and central VH's!!! out of the five flags that compose the central group, four of the flags have switched nation 4 times since turn 16!! this start of turn 22 has dread written ALL over it?!&%$)@!<

FlashfyreSP -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 5:40:08 PM)

Psst.....C&C only works for the Player; the AI does NOT abide by the restrictions of C&C.

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 5:56:56 PM)

OH great now ya tell me!! AND HOW WAS INDIA BUD?

FlashfyreSP -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 10:06:36 PM)

India was great; could've stayed another couple of months. Just when I made a few contacts in the Indian Army (a Colonel, a Brigadier, and a couple of junior officers) I had to leave...I was looking for copies of some official Ministry of Defence books, histories of the Indian Army in WWII, and a friend my wife and I know in Lucknow happens to belong to the Army Club there; he introduced me to a number of officers who he thought might be able to help. I still hope to hear from them about the books.

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 10:34:05 PM)

Good man, good man grab us those books, and hopefully scrape out a couple of historical indian WW2 scenarios??? and actual pictures and log entries form the era!! you lucky bugger!

Riun T -> RE: FlashFyre Demonstration Long Campaign (10/25/2006 10:49:45 PM)

the punishment my forces are recieving is leaning my thoughts toward a crushing defeat for my side, especially when you see whats left of my commando platoon and scattered groups of airborne. The southern and central zones might hold but the northern looks shakey!! this is the south VH's
