After Washington conference, 5 latter Wakatake / No.2 destroyers got cancelled. DD-14 FY1918 Kawasaki, Kobe ? - - 1922 BU incomplete DD-20 FY1918 Kawasaki, Kobe ? - - 1922 BU incomplete DD-22 FY1918 Fujinagata SB - - - 1922 cancelled DD-24 FY1918 Uraga dock - - - 1922 cancelled DD-26 FY1918 Ishikawajima SB - - - 1922 cancelled I assume that without Washington they would have been completed; IJN definitely had enough need for them and more than enough capable crew from all the pre-WWI destroyers being decommissioned. Is it safe to guess the following completion times? - Early January '23 for DD-14 and early May for DD-20: Kawasaki took 9.5 and 10.5 months from start to finish to complete DD-2 and DD-4, who were 4 months apart. Wakatake (ex-DD-2) FY1918 Kawasaki, Kobe 1921.12.13 1922. 7.24 1922. 9.30 Kuretake (ex-DD-4) FY1918 Kawasaki, Kobe 1922. 3.15 1922.10.21 1922.12.21 - Early July '23 for DD-22: Fujinagata took 13 months to complete DD-16; DD-22 would have probably been started on in June '22. Fuyo (ex-DD-16) FY1918 Fujinagata SB 1922. 2.16 1922. 9.23 1923. 3.16 - Early May '24 for DD-24: Uraga took 19 months to complete DD-6; DD-24 would not have been started until August '22. Sanae (ex-DD-6) FY1918 Uraga dock 1922. 4. 5 1923. 2.15 1923.11. 5 I'm not sure about DD-26 as Ishikawajima - considering that it took them 24 months to build a destroyer, a contract may have been awarded to another company? Then again, we're talking Japan here. Comments?
