...when during a single turn you have destroyed two Pz-IVf2's, damaged a third one, immobilized a FlaK-halftrack, blown up a Pz-IIf and your Sturmovik has killed a Tiger, AND THEN your PBEM-mate asks you to resend the files as they didn't work, and then you check out and observe that the files simply don't work! Aaaaargh!

The biggest problem with pbem is folks exiting the game before windows has decided to write teh encrypted file to disk leaving the unencrypted file. The best way to prevent this is to wait 5 or 10 seconds after ending your turn to ensure teh file is finished writing, or even to alt-tab out and check the file to make sure it is encrypted (open the .dat in wordpad and seeif you can read SPWAW in the first line or just see gibbrish) ALso do not move or reinstall the game in the middle of a battle. For friendly play it is NOT advisable to use secure email - you have smaller files if you just play it with no paswords. The best way to play "secure" will be online...

Aha. That's good to know. Well, I wasn't really complaining about any bugs or such (**** does happen with HD's anyway), just that this took place when my troops had punched my opponent in big time. And when I re-played the turn, I otherwise did almost as well, except for the Tiger! I used to respect all international laws about conduct of war, but from now on I'll add Murphy's law to the list. I'm happy that I hadn't destroyed more than one Tiger, or I would have bursted into tears...
