I found this declassified "Special Air and Gunnery Target Map" of Iwo Jima at the U. of Texas library:http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/historical/iwo_jima_2003.jpg

Its 1.8mb, and when it first loaded in my browser I wasn't too impressed ...then I zoomed in. [X(]

This looks more like it could be used for a distinct campaign. The battle certainly could. An excellent find, thank you good sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

I worked for a number of years at the U.T. Austin library. I've seen this map up close and personal. I've also seen their detailed topographical maps of the Kursk and Battle of the Bulge regions as well. The U.T. Austin library has some world-class resources.
