I got a soft spot for the Dodgers that goes back to 1988, so I gotta "Think Blue".

Nevertheless, realistically, I think it'll come down to the Cardinals and the Yankees. Why? No special reason. Just a hunch.

I have to go with the Dodgers or Tigers. I'd like to see Maddox get another ring this year since his career is just about over, and I love Jim Leyland and think what he's done this year with the Tigers has been amazing. Too bad the Cubs couldn't hire him instead of Baker last time. Hopefully they can get Girardi this time if the Marlins are dumb enough to let him go, which it appears they are.

If the Cards make it out of the first round, I'll be amazed, their pitching is godawful, and they only have one hitter that I'd feel confident in at the moment. Maybe they can turn it on for a round, but I don't think there's a chance they get to the series.

Cantankerous -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/3/2006 1:53:40 AM)

Since my dog is not in this hunt, I am rooting for whoever is playing the Yankees. [:)]

(So I guess I'm rooting for the Tigers!)

PadresFan104 -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/3/2006 6:22:42 AM)

Probably goes without saying, but the Friars... [;)]

I'll be at the game on Thursday, hanging on every pitch.... Can't wait!!!

Twins. A catcher winning the batting title, a pitcher winning the triple crown, and a hitter more valuable than David Ortiz. Oh yeah, they also have the best defensive CF in the league. Now, if they could just hurry up and add twenty million more people in the metropolitan area and move to the East Coast, maybe they'd get a little more news coverage...

JoeRockhead -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/3/2006 5:14:38 PM)

Go Tigers! Though I doubt they are up to it. What a disappointing collapse.
If Tigers lose, GO YANKS!

SirWolf1960 -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/3/2006 7:52:19 PM)

I grew up with the New York Mets. Actually, I was the only Mets fan in a house full of Yankee fans. But as a follower of the Royals, I'd love to see the Twins do well. That's my heart.

But my brain says Yankees vs. Mets, with the same result as the last Subway series.

Steve

Mets, if they don't make the Series, then the Tigers.
If neither, than anyone but the Yankees.

Nukester -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/4/2006 5:00:58 AM)

The Bronx Bombers baby !!!

Hey Guys,
Padres win or loose[:)]

menippus -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/4/2006 5:12:37 PM)

The Yankees.

And yes, I also always root for Darth Vader and the Empire when I watch a Star Wars flick.

Bustoff -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/4/2006 10:39:18 PM)

I've been a Redbirds fan for nearly 5 decades, and crummy pitching isn't enough to change my mind. Don't worry, I am used to disappointment; I have been a Missouri Tigers football fan for over 3 decades.

Go Cards!

SpharV2 -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/5/2006 12:53:29 AM)

So much for everyone being scared to face the Twins in the postseason, wow. Couple of impressive games by the As. Still don't think the Cards can win unless Carpenter can pitch three games, but if the lineup keeps hitting you never know.

local8h -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/5/2006 1:52:02 AM)

Im just glad the Padres got to the post season, You know we dont have much to cheer about[:D]

Woodruff -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/5/2006 9:26:00 AM)

Cardinals fan all my life, so that's my cheering interest.

The wife is a Dodgers fan though, so barring the Cardinals, I will have no option but to become a Dodgers fan.

Nth Power -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/6/2006 8:10:28 PM)

I want to see the Twins make it, but things don't look too promising right now.  That said, I wouldn't mind seeing the Tigers go all the way (not over the Twins, of course!).  They were so good for most of the season.

Go Twins!! (Where is Kirby Puckett when you need him? - Taking a dirt nap.[:(])

jono -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/7/2006 1:50:54 AM)

Go Tigers!!!!!

JoeRockhead -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/7/2006 7:28:02 PM)

Let's all hope the Tigers clinch tonight! ON TO OAKLAND!!!!!!!!!

KG Erwin -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/8/2006 1:26:54 AM)

40-year old Greg Maddux starts for the Dodgers tonight.  I hope he has some stuff left in him.

The Mets are strong -- the Dodgers can't generate runs, and their defense has been spotty at best.  It's gonna take some magic to prevent a sweep.

Silverbullet -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/8/2006 8:09:47 PM)

Well so far Mets and Tigers holding up.
Yankees out[:D]

PadresFan104 -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/9/2006 6:21:59 AM)

Crap on a cracker... Padres are out... Oh well, time to focus on the Chargers...

akcranker -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/9/2006 7:27:27 AM)

I've been a Cardinals fan since Big Mac moved over to them.. before that I was an A's fan... soo... I'm rooting for both of them to reach the World Series and then I'll be in heaven because either way my team will win!!!

tiger lifer here, the whole city has a collective face of disbelief right now, whoevers dreaming this up, we hope they stay asleep for anouther 12 days or so

bless you boys

KG Erwin -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/15/2006 3:52:47 AM)

With the Pirate connection to the Tigers (Jim Leyland was the manager of the last good Pirates lineup in 1990-91), I gotta go with them.  (Hope I'm not jinxing them now [;)]).

KG Erwin -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/20/2006 6:53:00 AM)

Well, my predictions weren't too shabby.  The Cardinals were definitely a dark horse, but they pulled it out.

Should be an excellent WS.

akcranker -> RE: 2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For? (10/20/2006 12:39:40 PM)

Well I didn't get my dream matchup of A's & Card's but at least one of my teams made it.  Going to be a tough WS but I hope my Cards can pull it out this year and not get swept like they did against Boston.
