btaft -> Carrier Aircraft Replacements (10/5/2006 5:22:31 PM)

I have conducted a search on this and have pulled up alot of conflicting opinions.

Having just received my first two carriers I promptly used them to thin out the ranks of the Bombardment forces coming out of Rabual into PM. For my efforts I have claimed one BB (yamato heaviliy damaged as well), one CA, one CL, several DDs and a handful of APs at the cost of thinning the ranks of my dauntlesses and devastators. I have since withdrawn them to Townsville and have the TF in the port as a TF. I have had them there for about 3-4 days and have not received any replacements (despite the fact that there appear to be plenty of replacements available).

1) Do I need to remove the CVs from the TF
2) Does the TF need to be in its homebase or in one of the major ports Brisbane, Nomea
3) Is it more effective to transfer the wings to the base and then have them rejoin the CV once the TF is set to disembark again
4) Am I doing everything right and just need to have more patience and keep the TF where it is (I just didn't want to keep the TF there indefinitely)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

BT

They don't have to be in home port; however, i think they do have to be w/i transfer distance of Noumea or Brisbane to receive replacements. I'm pretty sure the Devastators, at least, aren't in range. Cruise down to Rockhampton to make sure or try disbanding them in Townsville. It's been a couple of months since I've played.

My own preference is to never remove air groups from cvs.
