I put a number of subs on computer control early in the game, about 15 of them, mostly Dutch subs but some USN, am 2.5 months into the game and these subs will not hand control back to the human. They are just sitting doing nothing and I can't change that.

This a bug? Its rather frustrating.

odd . are thier operating areas under computer or human control ?

and theaters you have with AI command on ?

IF not then maybe wait till they get back to base and try disband etc. also i'm asuming sub ops are set to manual in the game setings.

You have to create a new task force, then they should allow you to give new orders.

dtravel -> RE: Subs (10/8/2006 9:29:14 PM)

What have you tried in attempting to get them back under human control?  Have you clicked on the yellow "Computer Control" line in the TF screen?  If so, what happened?

Gibbons -> RE: Subs (10/8/2006 11:11:01 PM)

I started the game with all but the Hawaii/West Coast area under computer control. But have since removed computer control from the other areas except China and the Japan Area.

When you click on one of the sub fleets in question, all of the buttons that give you options to do things, like Disband or Replenish and/or anything else, there are no buttons and you can't change anything. Even after clicking the yellow 'Computer' tag over to 'Human'. Some of them went back to their home base and even there the controls to change them are frozen. Quite odd. I am thinking from the responses that it is a bug that maybe hadn't arisen before.

And it is with Dutch, British, and US subs. Ones I moved to a spot and put on computer control. It seems the ones that are on computer control for quite a while do this. And sub ops were set to manual at the start.

Seems that is you have any areas under computer control some TFs just won't come back to you and the computer does strange things

Not sure if this was ever mended in a patch but I still think the golden rule is to have every area under human control

dtravel -> RE: Subs (10/9/2006 2:38:00 AM)

Put everything under human control, then try again.  Most likely this is the cause of the problem.

buzzz123 -> RE: Subs (10/9/2006 2:52:26 PM)

I have found my computer controlled subs often do strange (read STUPID) things. One game every allied sub on the map moved to Camranh Bay (or close to it) and sat there. It was a Jap port, but hardly worthy of 50+ subs!

Solution: dont put ANYTHING on computer control. It just causes frustrations.

SGT Swanson -> RE: Subs (10/9/2006 5:05:34 PM)

Computer control of TFs can always be returned to Human control.  When you open up a TF screen (double clicking on the icon on the map), in the bottom RIGHT HAND corner it will tell you who has control of the unit.  It will either say "COMPUTER CONTROL" or "HUMAN CONTROL", and the words will be in YELLOW.  All you have to do is click on the yellow words and it will change the control to the one that is not visiable.

Having the control of an entire thearter set to "Computer Control" does not effect you from changing who has control over individual units.  Changing it on the "THEATER MAP" just saves time as it's done all at once.

Well nothing works.

All areas are under human control and I've gone through two more turns. This must be a bug.

Some of the subs have returned to their home port and I did Form New Task Force and was able to put them in a new task force and regain control.

Thanks for the help and responses. Much appreciated.
