Grifman -> East vs West Scenario Length (10/9/2006 12:30:50 AM)

I am correct in understanding that this scenario only goes from 1946 to 1948, two years? That's seems awfully short for a war between the Soviets and the West - and would seem to favor the Soviets a great deal. Why is it so short? I'd like a longer war myself.

And if you play an East/West scenario as part of the original conflict is 1948 still the cut off point? Thanks.

Yes, the normal cut off point is the end of 1948 (which makes a 10 turn scenario). However, you can select to play with No End Date in which case the game will go until one side achieves auto-victory (25 strategic points). You can also turn Auto Victory off and thus play until one side is totally crushed by the other (or some other agreed upon level of victory). So there are many ways you can play the scenario.

When the Allies win in the a normal WWII scenario, the game can continue into an East vs West game, where the same end of 1948 last turn applies. Again, if the players have selected No End Date to begin with, they can go into a No End Date post-WWII continuation game. If playing against the AI, you can always change these game options in the middle of a game.

Ok, that's cool, thanks for giving us the option to play to the death!

You may well regret that comment, Grifman, feel free to PM me your opening move as soon as you get the game, all options (no end date, no AV, etc.) up to you except Advanced Supply only and FoW on, and fuel costs of course.  In order to play the East vs West continuation game, you need three players: WA, Axis and Russian, IŽll take any of the 3!

That's what I thought, but I just tried to change them and I can't from within my game against the AI. I'm in the same situation the OP described - I didn't realize the short scenario length and didn't check "no end date". I'd like to change it now to keep on playing (seems like I'm just getting started :)), but I can't figure out how. I can look at the option settings but not change them.

Thanks!

I think you can keep on playing after the date (or AV) anyway, there's a popup for it IIRC. Oh, and welcome to the forums! [:)]

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Yes, I remember being able to continue some scenarios in the original WaW, either through changing the options or some other means. However, I can't find that functionality here. When '49 comes, the game ends with the only options being to review the map or exit.
