Another OOTP convert here. 2006 is over the top complicated. Puresim's demo sold me by making in-game more fun and roster/player management less ridiculous. It's more fun to play and easier to customize. And for a historical simmer like me, Puresim is gold.

I have the game and the "offical" 1.20 patch installed. I saw a couple things that interested me in the beta patch parade, specifically the roster view options in the in-game screen. I've also read a lot of posts detailing problems with some of the beta patches.

What patch do you recommend running at for maximum features with minimum problems?

Thanks all.

I think your choice comes down to one of two: 1.20 or 1.38, and your choice is "maximum features" versus "minimum problems"; its not one where you get both!

If you want a rock-solid experience where everything is ironed out, I think you have to go with the last official release patch, 1.20.

If you are willing to experience a few problems with the maximum feature set - if you're willing to write something off as "a problem with this build" rather than "a problem with the game", and are more likely to write a helpful critique than a blowing-off-steam flame, then you ought to go with the latest patch, 1.38.

For somebody just getting into the game, I'd recommend starting with 1.20, and waiting for the next "official" patch - that'll give you a better idea of what Shaun thinks is 'gold', as opposed to something a little closer to the cutting-edge of development.

I could not have phrased that better myself.
