I am in the process of simming the 1905 season with the 1.38 Beta installed and one of my pitchers, Fred Mitchell, decided to retire midseason. This was odd because he was 27 yrs old, had a 23-7 career record and a career era of 2.65. He was 4-1 with a 2.66 era through June of '05 in 12 games (6 GS). I had only recently promoted him to the rotation. Seemed like an odd time to throw in the towel.

What happened to the game as a result was the real problem. My roster became totally scrambled. On the day he retired the sim stopped and popped up the roster screen. The buttons on the roster screen were disabled, I could close the window and navigate out of the game but couldn't display any players or navigate in my roster. I closed the game and reentered my roster. Where upon I found that the computer took the liberty of signing a free agent catcher to fill the spot vacated by the retiring pitcher. It also promoted all but 1 minor league batter and 5 minor league pitchers giving me 29 players on the ML roster. It scrambled my lineups and rotation too which meant about a 30 minute manual process to get the season back to playable shape.

This happened to me twice, as well. Did you find the players card? Because in both instances for me the player had retired because of a career-ending injury. In an earlier, beta, the bug that allowed players to play on after career-ending injuries was addressed, and I had problems after this (only when simming a bunch of games at a time), so I have a feeling it's related to that particular fix (if your player had a career-ending injury).

Thanks for the reply. You are correct. A career ending hip injury.

I guess the bug, which really is minor just kind of flaky, is that the team roster was juggled after the career ending injury.
