Hartley -> Location of teather HQ (10/14/2006 1:14:16 AM)

What are the implications in the game of moving say, SWPAC from Brisbane to Townsville, or Gili Gili ?

One aspect to think about is that you want your theatre HQ in a base that is well supplied. If not, your squadrons at other undersupplied bases will not receive any replacements. I try to keep my theatre HQ in a base that is malaria free, so that I can send battered ground units there to rebuild after a tough campaign.

So there are no advantages to having it at a reasonable distance from forward bases ?

In RL, SWPAC jumped to Hollandia on the way to the PI.

Air squadrons get replacements if in range of the main HQ, even if their own base is below 20k supplies.
This is the main advantage.

A secondary one is that the base will draw lots of supplies. It can be helpful sometimes.

I always move the Australian or the SWPAC to Darwin.
Leaving the other one at Townsville.
