Jonathan Palfrey -> RE: Demo?? (10/27/2006 6:45:28 PM)

It's a rather interesting question, and if I were a game publisher I suppose I'd have to try to research an answer. Demos can have different effects on different people. 1. "I'm uncommitted; I try the demo; I'm hooked; I buy the game." 2. "I want to buy the game, but the demo's available, so I try it. It's disappointing. I don't buy the game." 3. "I'm a cheapskate with undemanding requirements. I never buy games; I just keep downloading and playing demos. Whenever I get sick of one, there's another coming." Whether it's worth making a demo or not depends, I suppose, on what proportions of people fall into each of these different categories.
