Just a brief question: does TOAW III run with Linux? Either via Wine or Cedega?

It's not something that we tested. If you try it, let us know!

I knew I'd seen it somewhere this summer.
Apparently, it works with Wine with a little bit of tinkering.

Let us know if it works out for you.

Thanks, I'll give it a try ASAP! I'm slowly but steadily shifting everything over to Linux, but I'm still at the very beginning. The main reason is the big mistake I made by buying a SB X-Fi soundcard. Nice with XP, but useless with Linux. But who needs sound in TOAW anyway? [;)]

I'm tempted by the same move and been playing with the idea of switching my laptop to Linux. Work stuff wouldn't be an issue, the only thing still holding me back is the need for TOAW to work flawlessly. Keep us posted on how it works out for you, I'm interested in the results you can achieve.

Ditto about the sound, from one playing with -nointro, -nosound and -nodelay on [;)]

TOAW, both V3 and COW, works quite well under Cedega. I've been running it under Linux for a couple of years now. You can use the Cedega installation defaults with only minor changes. The game requires the use of a "desktop" window to run in, I use a 1280x1024 desktop. The only issue that I've had is that mouse clicks are not always recognized until the cursor is moved out of the game window. I have my game window sized (within the "desktop" window) so that the right hand edge is a few pixels from the edge of the "desktop". Sliding the cursor across to the right edge is so automatic now that I don't notice that I'm doing it.

HTH,
Ron
