Caltone -> Changes to CV aircraft limits? (11/8/2006 6:33:08 AM)

I have always thought CV's would launch aircraft when carrying up to 115% of thier complement. I've recently replenished two ships and now the aircraft #'s show up in red. Does this mean they will not launch? What are the new limits? Screenshots attached, Akagi in this post and Shokaku in the next.

It's showing orange, which means it's over the limit, but will still operate aircraft. When it's red, it won't fly planes.

Thanks and tests confirmed they're launching.  Is the coloring a new feature?  Don't remember seeing the colors before, but I am getting old [:D]

Yes.
It was introduced in one of the post 1.8 patches to help with identification of 'really' overloaded CVs.

Also helps when transferring groups to CV as the transfer list shows RED when the transfer would make CV overloaded.

[Thanks to Don for that.]

Does this new overloading feature have any effect on CVE's carrying replacement aircraft?

michaelm75au -> RE: Changes to CV aircraft limits? (11/9/2006 4:12:25 PM)

It is not really a new 'feature' as such.
It just colours the list so it is easier to work out if planes can operate.

CVE while carrying full VR groups can't operate planes as the capacity of the CVE is 28(?) and the groups are 54(?).
