Flankerk -> AAR-Hormuz Strait. (11/11/2006 1:30:27 PM)

This is a standalone scenario by Klaus Behrmann using DB2000 naturally enough. Klaus is an extremely prolific scenario writer and some of the largest playable scenarios around are by him. Particular favourites of mine that stand out are Summerex and The Surge.
I normally set aside a weekend to play either of those, and if I ever get enough time might one day do an AAR for one .

Although this run through was in part to produce an AAR, the main purpose was to test 3.7. One minor bug was found during the run through and was solved in a faster time than it took me to report it. It says something for the progress being made.

Scenario takes place starting at 22.00 on 22/12/02. USA side is the only playable option, with the task of clearing the strait and escorting landings in Iran at Chah Bahar and Bandar Abbas.

At game start I had two sizeable escorted Phibrons, for each target, 12 ships for Bandar Abbas and 10 for Chah Bahar. Supprting these were two 6 ship carrier strike groups featuring Abraham Lincoln and Constellation respectively.

Available submarines consisted of SSN 773 Cheyenne,SSN 771 Columbia, SSN 22 Connecticut, and SSN 683 Parche.

22.00 Commenced initial TLAM strike against Bandar Abbas, figuring that Chah Bahar was nearer, the aircraft would have a quicker turn round to attack there.

22.04 Hawkeyes are up and active, various unclassified surface contacts detected. A large strike force appears to be forming up near Chah Bahar, Tomcats are scrambled.

22.11 Iranian aircraft manually classed as hostile and engaged by Tomcats.

22.12 Four Hudong class near Chah Bahar are in range of Harpoons from the Chah Bahar Phibron.

22.22 All Hudongs sunk.

22.27 Multiple TLAM strikes on Bandar Abbas.

22.40 Second wave of TLAM launched.

22.42 First large scale air strike launched. Twelve Hornets with HARM launched from Constellation, to provide cover for twelve GBU armed. Abraham Lincoln supports with a further twelve Hornet with JDAM.
Four Super Hornet swapped from GBU to SLAM -ER

23.10 Second wave of TLAM strikes hit Bandar Abbas.

23.17 Harm armed Hornets commence defence suppression around Chah Bahar.

23.31 Air raid a success, widespread damage caused to Chah Bahar and no losses.
Four Harpoon armed Vikings launch to engage various missile boat types approaching along the strait.

23.36 Smaller TLAM strike on Bandar Abbas as running out of appropriate targets.

23.43 Contact with a Kilo localised near Phibron Chah Bahar, engaged with VLA.

23.47 Sub contact sinking.

23.53 A somewhat miserly attack by the Vikings on four Khadang class, with only a single Harpoon fired at each.

23.57 Vikings launch a single Harpoon at two Saam class.

Day two.

00.01 Probable silkworm attack on Phibron Bandar Abbas all being shot down by defensive SAM's.
Two Khadangs sunk, remainder targetted by a harpoon each, Vikings RTB.

00.02 Four SLAM-ER Super Hornet launch.

00.04 Both the Saam's and remaining Khadang class are all sinking.

00.27 Air raid from Bandar Abbas defeated by CAP of Hornets.

00.47 SLAM-ER attack launched on the SA-5 site at Bandar Abbas.

00.48 Most hardened targets at Bandar Abbas now destroyed, all remaining TLAM launched against Chah Bahar targets, followed up by submarine launched missiles.

2.01 Two new Khadang class contacts detected relatively near Phibron Bandar Abbas, enagged with Harpoons and sunk.

3.59 All quiet as the Hornets ready for the next major strike. Large scale probable silkworm strike from Chah Bahar versus the Phibron enagged and shot down.

4.02 Harriers and Super Cobras launch strikes from Phibron Bandar Abbas against various missile sites near Bandar Abbas .

4.13 Seahwaks from the same Phibron detect localise and then sink a Kilo contact.

4.14 Phibron Bandar Abbas launches four harpoon at a Hengam class moored near Bandar Abbas.

4.15 Marines from Phibron Chah Bahar launched and engage missile sites near landing area.

4.24 Hengam sinking.

5.43 Finally, the Hornets are ready again. Strike package bound for Bandar Abbas consisting of two Prowler, six Tomcat, twelve Harm armed Hornet and twelve GBU armed.

6.14 Abraham Lincoln launches her twelve JDAM armed Hornet.

6.38 HARMS away. Follow up strikes successful with widespread damage. JDAM Hornets run out of targets and sent to follow up strike on Chah Bahar.

6.39 Phibron Bandar Abbas detects a Kilo near its position, again localised and then engaged by VLA.

6.40 Kilo sinking.

7.53 Silkworm strike from remaining missiles at Bandar Abbas versus the Phibron. All shot down. Chah Bahar Phibron is in position off shore.

8.21 Retargetted strike by JDAM Hornets hit Chah Bahar. Kinkaid strays too close to shoreline and is sunk.

9.26 All Phibrons now in position, all eight Super Hornet engage facilities at Bandar Abbas with SLAM-ER.

14.23 Counting down the clock until Hornet Strike package readied. Marines form Chah Bahar Phibron engage the troops near the shoreline.

14.36 Victory Conditions successfully trigger.

Again as ever, nice to test out a DB2000 scenario and find all working.
You won't be short of targets in this scenario for some time, certainly plenty to keep you busy. Several of the Silkworm strikes will make you nervous too.
