I'm interested in buying this game but I need to know if my current graphics card is capable of handling the game or if it is not going to work with it.

I have a GE Force4 MX4000 card with 128 MB memory

512 MB RAM

Will this be ok or do I need to upgrade?

That graphics card is one step down from what I use (Geforce4 TI4200 128). The MX series ~should~ work, but you'll likely have to turn the graphic detail down (or the game will do it for you if it starts to slow down too much).

How much does a graphics card like the one you said you have retail for? I have been having quite a rough time recently finding a bunch of games I really like only to find out through demo's that my card isnt up to snuff.

My graphics card is quite old actually and I'm not even sure you could buy it retail anymore (well not new anyway).

Any of the newer nVidia or ATI cards should do the trick though.

Sounds like the game won't be enjoyable if I put it on my laptop...

It's a Dell Inspiron 6400, 1.66 ghz CPU, 512 RAM, and an Intel vid card...[&:]

MX cards are missing quite a bit of the 3D core.  It doesn't have T&L or shaders.

Is the GeForce MX card in an AGP slot?  How much do you want to spend?  What is the CPU?

Intel integrated graphics don't work well for 3D applications that actually have to move.

My experience with laptops is that they don't run games as well as the equivalent desktop, so if those specs aren't good enough for the game, it would probably be worse normal.

That said, I can run the PDS on my 4 year old laptop that isn't as powerful as yours. I can't practice the plays, but I can draw up a bunch, and test them on my desktop at a later time.

Am wondering if my card can handle the game, it's a Intel Extreme 2 Integrated Graphics with 64MB shared memory...

Captain,

I don't think you would be able to run the game well, if at all.  Integrated graphics chips aren't very powerful, and that's not a lot of memory, and it's shared.

My current PC had the 64meg integrated stuff before and it did run MaxFB, but not very well.
I bought a Geforce FX5200 256meg PCI and now it runs fantastic.
The computer is a Dell Dimension 2gig with 1gig memory.

Yes, assuming you have an AGP or PCI-E slot available on your motherboard.  PCI-E is better if you have both.

well i reinstalled my game and got my PDS system to work, had to reset my league and recreate all my rosters, now as of today I just installed a new video driver for my NVIDIA GeForce4 ti 4200 AGP8X card. I installed the newer 93.71 driver that came out in November, and now I see wierd black lines on my screen when starting a game. So far this is the only game I have seen vid issues with since adding the new driver.
I have tried multiple graphics settings ingame from 600 x 800 16 to others trying to get rid of this problem. Do I ned to reinstall the game again?

It really depends on the laptop.

One of my testing machines is a Toshibia Satellite P100 laptop with an nVidia Geforce Go 7300 and it plays the game very well. No performance issues at all.

OK- I downloaded a demo of a game and it ran well. Its minimum requirements were:

  • Windows 2000 or XP operating system
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 256 MB of RAM
  • 3D graphics card with 32 MB of RAM
  • 500 MB of hard drive space for installation
  • DirectX 9 (included)
  • DirectX-compatible sound card
  • Media Player 9.0.0.2980 (included)


   So- does this indicate that my card can handle Maximum Football? I reallllllly want to buy and play this game. :-)

I do not know what demo you downloaded so there's really no way for me to make a direct comparison.

  • 1 GHz processor <- That would be very low. I recommend at least 1.5Ghz.
  • 256 MB of RAM <- Maximum-Football requires at least 512MB
  • 3D graphics card with 32 MB of RAM <- Maximum-Football requires a least 64MB (although 128 as a minimum is highly recommended) And if it has only 32MB, it's likely a low end graphics card which I would not recommend.

    It would be a good idea to check for an open AGP or PCIe slot on your motherboard.

    Graphics cards are relatively easy to install.
