DumKopf -> Purchase Options (11/28/2006 2:06:45 AM)

Hi there, just wondering how this game will be released?

Having a boxed version? Download only?

Perhaps even released on the Steam platform? This would surely increase penetration to those who might not be able to get their hands on a boxed copy.

Cheers for your time,

DumKopf

Marc von Martial -> RE: Purchase Options (11/28/2006 11:05:30 AM)

Lke any other game we publish:

- Digital download
- boxed version
- Digital download + boxed version

Muzrub -> RE: Purchase Options (11/28/2006 1:51:37 PM)

The first thing my wife said after I told her the news was how much is it going to cost?

Can you give us any idea of cost?

Marc von Martial -> RE: Purchase Options (11/28/2006 2:48:51 PM)

The price is TBA

DumKopf -> RE: Purchase Options (11/29/2006 1:05:08 AM)

Would you consider Steam? It's becoming quite the popular platform.

dhdbob -> RE: Purchase Options (11/29/2006 5:34:55 AM)

I think it would be cool if matrix could come up with something similar to steam.

DumKopf -> RE: Purchase Options (11/29/2006 7:01:32 AM)

Or just release it on steam which already has a massive user base.

Marc von Martial -> RE: Purchase Options (11/29/2006 10:01:04 AM)

No I don't think we will consider Steam.

From the Matrix Fall 2006 Catalogue.

Muzrub -> RE: Purchase Options (11/30/2006 10:14:26 AM)

WOW,

Thats more than I paid for the original.
If thats for the CC3 version.

Cheers for the info.

VicKevlar -> RE: Purchase Options (11/30/2006 3:49:04 PM)

No kidding......I hope a full, detailed list of changes is put out before/during release before I shell out that much on this baby.

Frank McNally -> RE: Purchase Options (11/30/2006 6:08:27 PM)

Is it feasible to port CC to any of the consol game machines?  (you could pre-set the defaults of perfect morale and unlimited ammo for the flash-bangers)

Beeblebrox -> RE: Purchase Options (12/1/2006 12:09:12 AM)

It does make me chuckle a bit listening to people's evaluation of what's 'value for money'.  A round of 5 beers will cost around $20 here, so save 2 rounds and get weeks/months possibly years of enjoyment from a game [;)] Everything is relative... then again, spending $50 on a game or buying your beloved a Valentine's present could change the relativity [:)]

I am sure those that buy will enjoy it.

dhdbob -> RE: Purchase Options (12/1/2006 1:44:02 AM)

I'd tried putting up an add on wargamer.com if you haven't done so yet.

Infidel -> RE: Purchase Options (12/1/2006 5:36:45 PM)

The price doesn't seem out of line to me.  You can always wait for it to go on sale at Best Buy for $10 off, usually the first or second week they have it.

Another question:  If you want to have the game loaded on both a main home computer and a laptop, will this be legally possible with a single copy?

FeurerKrieg -> RE: Purchase Options (12/2/2006 2:34:50 AM)

I'll pay whatever they charge.

Firstly for the time versus money argument, WITP is the most effective entertainment dollars ever spent for me.
Secondly, I think of it as a donation to further the development of the next CC release (the one after COI) which I think WILL include significant improvements.

Well said mate and yes I agree totally. However, instead of donation, I myself consider it more of an investment in the future of CC itself. The wealth of incredible knowledge, inspirational modders and gifted map makers out there that can be harnessed to drive this game well into the future is astonishing. IMO, CC can only go from strength to strength.

10 beers! You can always duck out to the crapper for two shouts and save the money that way to buy it!!
Works for me!

Edit: Spelling

Llyranor -> RE: Purchase Options (12/6/2006 5:19:48 AM)

What are plans for bundling multiple rereleases together?

mbMike -> RE: Purchase Options (12/8/2006 11:50:47 PM)

I won't mind shelling out $40 for a CC title that is graphically enhanced by Marc Schwanebeck. First of all, I'd consider it backpay for all the time I spent playing CC5 with Marc's graphics mods. :) And I won't turn my nose on any other improvements, but the game as-is is pretty darned fun.

EricW34 -> RE: Purchase Options (12/9/2006 12:59:27 AM)

From my understand CSO Simtek has sent the gold master copy of this and we should see it soon:))))))
I can't wait!
Merry Christmas.

Oh, I´m blushing now, LOL.

You mean the "Panzerfeind!" and "Panzer marsch!" mods right? The "Panzer marsch!" mod was done together with Andrew Bruce aka "Zonbie", he did all the US stuff, I the German tanks. Jesus, that is so looooong ago [;)]

mbMike -> RE: Purchase Options (12/9/2006 8:29:21 PM)

Yes, those were the mods. Fantastic stuff (forgot about zonbie's involvement, but not now).

And yes, it was a long time ago. Too long if you ask me. [:)]

k9mike -> RE: Purchase Options (12/9/2006 11:59:44 PM)

Is this true? Hope so, it would be nice to see it in time for Xmas. I will probably DL instead of hard copy.

Naw, seems like yesterday! So good to see the best and the brightest still on the job! Here's to COI -- I'll gladly
pay full price for a game that beats ANY WW2 tactical game out there right now (just IMHO ;) )

Reminder to everyone -- PC games are going the way of the dodo. Look in your local EB or other game dealer -- walls of Xbox, Nintendo, Playstation, etc.,
and yet now only one small shelf of PC games. Let's support what we have while we have it -- or your faced with buying your latest whizz-bang
Xbox game for $59.95.

Worst comparison review to date -- the much vaunted "Company of Heroes" was touted to be the game that CC should have
been by no other than the Computer Gaming World (now "Games For Windows") wargame/strategy reviewer! Anyone who's seen
COH will realize in about 6 seconds it's no COI! Shore is purty tho!

What on earth for? You can already download and play each game immediately on release in remarkably grief-free fashion.

As to Steam itself, "massive user base" or not, games other than the usual FPS and RTS big-sellers seemed to have fared very poorly. Dangerous Waters, which is a pretty 'Matrixy' sort of product sold virtually no copies via Steam, despite a price which was and is an absolute steal. As, I assume, it costs to use Steam for distribution I suspect many Matrix releases via Steam would lose more money than they make.

Ain't that the truth?, and over here, you will be lucky to find as much as a small shelf...

But what is depressing is the paucity of types and styles?  I guess the money god rools ok, and most Publishers will want MaxBangForBuck.  I do seem to remember some time ago (years) looking forward to the Xmas new releases as there seemed to be some choice, even if I was not personally interested in them.  Whan I look now, I only seem to see 2 or 3 different types.  On the other hand, my age (getting on for boring old fart/grumpy old man) may have something to do with it, and that is an appealing thought...
