rogeur -> raiders and instant combat (12/2/2006 3:38:02 PM)

Hi there,

another try to get some answers.
1. How do i get that pop-up screen where i can choose between the 4
possible choices? I want to use instant combat , but are getting
quick combat all the time. I did read the manual. But im not certain
if i understood correctly. Only the defender can choose it?
The reason i ask is that no matter what i try , i always get the quick combat
pop-up.

2. Reading about raiders. How do they work? Do i have to move every turn to another
provence ( i know, enemy terr. and adjacent to csa in my case)Because i i put em in
yankee land , they do nothing . Or is it random ?
Partisans do work, so long i move em every turn.

3.How do i put div . containers in corps containers ? I can get div's in them (18)
as stated. But not the container self.

sorry for the stupid questions i guess , but the manual, for me, isn't
always clear.

ty guys

ps, this is not a rant, i luv this game, but want to know for sure
what i'm doing.

I have the same question. I prefer to use instant battles all the time, but I rarely ever get that choice. It would be nice if it was always available.

Peever -> RE: raiders and instant combat (12/2/2006 4:23:55 PM)

For instant battles choose the "Always Detail Optoin" in the game Prefs tab or at the setup screen when starting a new game.  This will give you the three choices for every battle; Detail Combat, Quick Combat, or Instant Resolve.

Thanks I will give it a try. Too bad a game option is not available to only show instant battles.

rogeur -> RE: raiders and instant combat (12/2/2006 4:50:10 PM)

I tried that , doesn't work
What does work however is, in game you choose prefs tab
under header combat-> turn off always quick battle.
Now, those other 2 questions.....
for now

Second way worked for me too. However, even though I do an instant battle, it would be nice to have the popup come up and say the results of the battle, versus havint to wait for the end of turn report.

I partly answered this in your other thread. Raiders should be working each turn they're in enemy territory (or the same friendly province if the enemy is in it), regardless of whether they were there the last turn. But they can't be too deep into enemy territory. I'm sure they're working, so try some more.

If you have a division container and corps container in the same province they'll form a stack, so right-click on them and you'll see the box that lists units in a province. Then, select the small of the two (division) with a left-click and it will become highlighted. When you move the mouse over the corps, the fat downward arrow will appear, whereupon you should left-click again to deposit the division in there.

What did you have 18 of? Could you have meant brigades rather than divisions?

Raiders do work, but not always. And yes they are in enemy territory.(next to mine)
Partisans do work every turn.

Regarding the containers. My question is this. Can you put a div. container a corps container as a whole ? I can put brigades seperate in the corps (18) but not divided .
So i end up with a corps container with 18 brigades. And generals that i put in.
But i want to have a structured corps (or army for that matter) like the one at the start.
Playing the south.

That it doesnt do.It works well for the generals tho.

you may have the Corps full to beginning with

see if you can put some of the Bdes into one of the Div Container first

you may have to play around with it for a bit until it starts to make sense to you

rogeur -> RE: raiders and instant combat (12/2/2006 9:32:20 PM)

I use some of the div containers (with brigs in them)
When i have made an corps container and have the divs in the same land, they stack.
I right click and get an overview from whats in it.
I take it that the upper left the name from the corps is.I then click on a div , say the 13th
, (you see 13th division) with underneath the brigs. I click on the div's name , take my
cursor to the upper left name and...nada.If i however take brig from say the 13th, then it works.

Hard Sarge -> RE: raiders and instant combat (12/2/2006 9:33:53 PM)

Just in case

here is a snap of what my area looks like

I got 3 containers closed and the ANV open

if I click on either of the Corps showing, I can not add them to the ANV, but if I click on the 6th Div, I can add that to the ANV

so basicly, the Corps are too large to fit (too many units in them) while the Div is still small enough to fit (or the ANV has enough room for the Div to fit)

which you can see, the ANV has some short Divs in it
