Just have a few observations. I took a scen, edited it with excel. (Aug 42) I removed any and all industry (No shipyards, assembly, engines, planes, HI, man, oil, and res) I placed 1400 HI, 800K Oil and 800K Res in 10 cities in Japan. I set 6 of these cities with 250 Mi Engines, 250 Reppu plants. (Reppu were due 7-45) I started the game with engine plants running, the Reppu plants halted, and no replacements. Both sides had planes grounded, (didnt want to confuse production loss with replacements) I ran the game until I had over 600 engines. I halted the engines production and restarted the Reppu plants. I had 1500 production going to research of Reppu planes. Each turn I noted HI, Mi Engines and Reppu date. HI went up each turn with no subtraction of Research. Mi engines and Reppu date stayed the same. After 20 turns, no change in Mi, or date of arrival. (min daily creates shhould have been 1501/30 = 50 planes or research points a day) 20 days x 50 research points = 1000 research points. Then just to be sure, I changed one of the Reppu plants to a Kate plant. After a few more turns Kates were being produced, HI was still going up, but 18 points removed for each plane created and Mi was going down (1 for 1) By the way, I tried this 3 different ways. (but not with PBEM) According to the manual Quote "Whenever a plane would have been produced, 1 development point is gained by the new aircraft type. For every 100 development points the availabilty of the aircraft type will be moved up one month" My observations. I should have created over a thousand research points. The intro date of the Reppu should have changed by 10 days.(one day at the least) Is there an issue with RD? Does it work at all? Is there a bug in one of the later updates? Or did I make a mistake somewhere and wasted a day and a half of my life to prove that I'm an idiot? And a question on the manual.. Should it be changed to reflect "only a chance" of moving the date up for each 100 as others have suggested? Or is it correct that " For every 100 development points the availabilty of the aircraft type will be moved up one month"?
