And if you do for example want to pull out some of the forces that are otherwise going to be overrun, set them to no replacements and wait till they have been whittled down by losses to the point where they cost many less PPs to switch. PP cost appears to be generally proportional to size. If pulling out such forces as the big air base forces, the NEI recce squadrons, or the US air units in the Philippines, remnants of the 4th Marine Regt by sub or air etc, there is no point paying big PPs when they are at full strength, and then leaving much of the unit behind to be captured by the IJA. Particularly if you just want a sub lifted cadre to put somewhere non malarial and well supplied (such as Pearl Harbour, Melbourne, Auckland, Bombay etc) so it can rebuild and re-enter the fray 12 months later.
