Hornet -> Pounder? (8/8/2000 6:20:00 PM)

I don't know British measurement units, so I wonder how big gun is 2 pounder in mm?

If I remember correctly the 2pdr was 40mm and didnt have an HE round. This may have changed later in the war but in Africa to my knowledge all it fired was solid shot.

I don't have my books at hand, but 2pdr meand it fires 2pound shells, which would be 0.9kg. But I believe both 2pdr and 40mm are just approximations. If I remember british 2pdr fires heavier shells than 2pdr and has slightly larger caliber than 40mm, but basicaly it's just that 40mmATG or TG. Renwor

2pndr = 40mm 6pndr = 57mm 17pndr ~= 76mm The 2pndr didn't have a HE round. The british used "infantry support tanks" which had 3" howitzers instead of the 2pndr guns. They usually interlaced 1 of these with 3 cruiser (anti-tank) tanks. Frank V.

2 and 6 Pdrs did have HE rounds produced for them. They were felt to be so ineffective that they were never issued operationally.
