player -> Problem with Vers. 1.51 (12/30/2006 6:43:11 AM)

Upgraded to 1.51 yesterday, while already in the middle of of a six team league season using 1948 player data. At the conclusion of each of the two managed games that I played, I received the following message "unexpected error 91". The game crashed. Although I lost no data and the game was properly recorded, I had to restart the game over again.

Can you send me a copy of the association? Zip up the [your assn].psa and [your assn].psx files and send it to me via www.sendthisfile.com (its free).

Please send it to shaun@puresim.com, also please include a little note describing the problem.

I'll have a look and see what the deal is -- thanks!

Shaun

Sent you the files you requested. Another problem that I didn't mention is that no activity appears to be taking place among the minor league teams. Stats haven't changed at all since the very beginning of the current season. This problem occurred before the upgrade to 1.51, and the problem still remained after I did a complete reinstall of the program.

Thanks.

Got your files...

I tried managing multiple games and never had any errors. What operating system are you running? Can you try re-installing 1.51? Also, can you try disabling any anti-virus or other programs running in the background. You may also want to make sure you have the latest sound and video card drives installed for your computer. Lastly, try disabling sound from the options and utilities dialog (access it from the association home screen).

If none of that helps at all, I'll put together a debug version of PureSim that will give me a detailed crash analysis.

Good luck and I hope we get you fixed soon!

Shaun

Thanks for your troubleshooting.

I disabled my virus program and did a clean reinstall of 1.51. I am on Windows XP-Home and all my drivers are up to date. I got the same error when managing my "Miami" team. However, when I switched over ownership to another team ("Los Angeles"), I did not get the error.

Corrupt file you think?

puresimmer -> RE: Problem with Vers. 1.51 (1/3/2007 12:57:37 PM)

Hmm. No, I don't think so, because I had no issues using your exact association. Are you using any custom player usage or GM tendency settings for the team that was receiving the error? Maybe try resetting/clearing them if you are. This one has me a bit puzzled.

Shaun,

Checked my custom settings and reset everything. Same result. The one good thing is that other than having to take the few seconds to restart the game after the error message all other aspects of the game appear to be operating properly.

Any further other suggestions?

OK, let's try another troubleshooting tactic. I have uploaded a special 1.51 exe that includes extensive debugging/diagnostic informattion in it.

What you'll need to do is download this zip file and unzip the included PureSim2k7.exe over the existing one in your "c:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2007" folder.

The run the game as usual, and do what you need to do to get the error to happen. The game should present you with a dialog that has detailed information and gives you the option to email me this information. When your email program launches be sure to paste in the info (via ctrl-v) and then send that email to me. At that point I will be able to figure out the exact line of code on which the game is crashing and hopefully figure out what is causing the conflict in your environment.

Here is the download:

Download 1.51 Debug Exe (4mb)

Thanks. I will give it a try and e-mail the results to you in a day or two.

Jcondor -> RE: Problem with Vers. 1.51 - squeeze play, double switches? (1/6/2007 2:24:48 AM)

Can some one help me with the following strategy and tactic problems I am having with Puresim Baseball:

1.  How do you do a squeeze play?  I see no such option on the strategy menu when I am managing a game.
2.  How do you do a double switch?  I managed the 1986 Mets at home and pinched hit for pitcher Bob Ojeda with Mookie Wilson.  Mookie made the final out.  I was then in the top of the next inning.  I went into line up and I then wanted to put Mookie at first base for Keith Hernandez at the beggining of inning.  I replaced Mookie Wilson who batted for Bob Ojeda with my new picture.  I then tried to place Mookie Wilson in for Keith Hernandez but it had his name lined out and not eligible for replacement.  What am I doing wrong??
3.  With players on 1st and 3rd I cannot bunt the player over to 2nd.

Thanks for your help!

Jess

Nothing is easy. When running the extracted zip file that I downloaded from you I get a message about "an error in the serial number entered".

Help!

You have to make sure you are unzipping it to the place where you installed the game.

Sent you an e-mail with the error information as you requested. Again thanks for your help.

1. I don't thinkbunting is an option with a runner on third.
2. For the Double Switch, you need to make the player changes in the other order. Whe bringing in the new pitcher, put them in Keith H.'s spot. Then Mookie Wilson wil stay in the game and you can make the necessary position changes.
3. Again, I don't think available.

Jcondor -> RE: Problem with Vers. 1.51 - squeeze play, double switches? (1/8/2007 12:39:16 AM)

Thank you so much for your rapid reply. I will be happy to pull off the double switch and will try what you suggested!!! I am saddened to hear I cannot do my squeeze play. That is a favorite play of Tony LaRussa. Ditto for bunting a guy over to second from first when there is a guy already on third. Is there any possibility in the future of being able to do that with future versions?

Absolutely, I'll look into adding these at some point. Thanks for posting.
