Tootenhamon -> Problem with patch 1.804 (1/1/2007 1:32:38 AM)

Sory, but after installing this patch, than CHS mod files and than installing files from Big B mod, i can't make my replanishment TFs load fuel, i can't load anything except supplies on my AKs, i can't move my ships from Trincomalee, immense portion of my Chinese divisions are unmovable (just like base units with 16 inch guns-simply can't move them). What's wrong? Does it have anything to do with "plot" of mods? (for example allies can't move some of their forces until certain date)?

1st you need to make sure you have the correct pwhex file installed for whichever map you are using.
2nd some of the chinese units in CHS are static...so they can't move.

Tootenhamon -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/1/2007 10:14:34 AM)

I'm using the AB extended map, latest version- i think 6.2 or so. And the problem esentialy after reinstalling game is that i can't move my units from Seattle and i can't move my units from Trincomalee. In the essence it's about range. It appears that when i order a unit from these bases, it's range at sea is as usually, but range to destination, no matter where i send them, is set to 9999 hexes, what prevents me from doing ANYTHING with these units. Problem with loading AKs, APs, AOs, TKs and so on seems to be resolved after reinstalation.

Andrew Brown -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/1/2007 11:44:37 AM)

Do you have the right map data file loaded for the map? There is further information in the FAQ supplied with the map documentation.

Tootenhamon -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/1/2007 12:12:20 PM)

Hmm... Let's start this from beginning. What do i need to install after what? I have done this:
1. WiTP 1.0
2. 1.804 comprehensive patch
3. Standard AB map
4. Extended AB map
5. Scenario 192
6. Scenario 192 art
7. WPA update.

Now am i doing something wrong?

Did you load the map and map data using the utility that comes with the map packages (modselect) or by doing a manual install of the map? This can be tested by using the '1' and 'F6' keys as per the FAQ. All bases, including those in Aden and Panama if using the extended map, should be in coastal or land hexes.

Here's the problem:

And here's the location of the base with problem (one of the bases to be exact)

Sory, can't understand it.

Ah. And i installed the map manually.

Tootenhamon -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/1/2007 2:36:20 PM)

Ok, so i can see after doing everything once again step by step, that i am doing something wrong in installing CHS. But no idea what.

Sardaukar -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/1/2007 3:34:54 PM)

Run the ModSelect batch file. That makes sure you will have correct pwhex.dat for map.

Yes, that should do it. I can see from the screenshots that you have the map graphics files (bitmaps) loaded, but not the map data file (pwhex.dat). If you run modselect, then select one of the "Andrew's Extended map" options, then restart the game, the problem should be solved.

And so it is :) Thank You v much for help :) Works perfectly.

FAdmiral -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/12/2007 7:44:45 AM)

I have just DLed WITP v.150. Installed it and fired it up, worked OK.
I then DLed patch 1804com (the latest I believe) but after installing
the patch, I get error 818 upon startup. Recommendations?

FAdmiral -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/12/2007 11:28:32 PM)

OK, from what I have read in all the posts about this,
the comp patch was meant to be used from ver. 1.00
(the absolute beginning). The DLs now are ver. 150 so
they are NOT the beginning but the middle. If I do over
and install the patches one at a time 160 to 1804 (not comp)
I should be good to go. BUT my big question is this:
Why is the DL still using ver. 150??? Should not this be
updated to the latest patch? Seems like Common Sense !!

JIM

FAdmiral -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/13/2007 2:47:19 AM)

OK, did what I mentioned above.  Installed the v150 DL, them patched
one at a time to 1804 (160,180,1801,1802,1804)  This has corrected the
problem of error 818 upon startup.  The 1804 comp. patch was not meant
to upgrade the 150 version which resulted in the error 818 at startup.
I have no reason to believe that sound was directly involved.

USSAmerica -> RE: Problem with patch 1.804 (1/13/2007 7:44:58 AM)

JIM, I did not read all the referenced links about the 818 error at startup, but I know it is related to crossing up the comprehensive and incremental versions of a patch. I just wanted to point out to anyone reading this thread that the 1.804 comprehensive patch will update properly for ANY previously installed version. I just downloaded the game two weeks ago, and got version 1.50. The only other patch I downloaded is the 1.804 comprehensive version, and it upgraded with no problems. My game starts up fine, and seems to be running as advertised.

Either way, I'm glad to hear that you have things up and running now. Welcome to the WitP club! [8D]

Actually, I have been in the club for quite awhile. I was a beta tester for "Uncommon Valor" and started with the WITP team but developed medical problems which provided
me with a hospital stay so I have to give up the testing. I have just now got around
to getting the game. I am also looking forward to getting "Carriers at War" later on.
I have played the original "Pacific War" and "Carriers at War" many, many times.....
