Ooookay, I really don't want to get on anyones nerves, but I'd like to fire up the old BTR until the new version gets released. And just five minutes ago I grabbed BoB at eBay for 2,99 EUR! But now what? How can I get the latest stuff for both games? Patches? Mods? I can log into the old ezboad forum, but there's not that much going on nowadays! Please don't tell me I'm stuck with Rowans BoB (fantastic although underrated wargame part, I really like it, but solitaire play only [:(]). Are there still people out there who play these games via email? The old ones, I mean.

Ron has been sending out BTR patches, the updated OOB was available for download from a site I no longer operate, though you might get that from someone else, too...

BOB should have the 1.00 installer *and* a fully installed 1.02 version on the CD.

My old editor is no longer availbable for download, as I don't want it confused with anything I'm doing for Matrix these days...

Hmmm...I'm not quite sure whether this is good news or bad news! The stuff exists, but obviously only on some private HDDs, no servers, is that correct?

Regarding BoB, it is from some compilation, not the original package. So I hope that it is patched as you say!
BTR is the original with printed manual (those were the days!).

I'm biting my nails here! While the Matrix version is already on the horizon, it seems that the only halfway contemporary and fully supported version of an operational level (give or take) BoB wargame is the Rowan one (and that isn't even a wargame. I just play it like one).

Okay, if anyone out there has the patches...........

Okay, problem solved! [:)]

Thank you very much for the help, Ron! BTR is up and running now! The installation was very smooth. As for BoB, I have to wait until it arrives here of course.

That should keep me busy till the release of the new version! WOHOO!

If anyone is looking for an easy PBEM-victim...well, here I am! [:D]

Your welcome sir, I hope you end up enjoying it as much as we did

ElDude -> RE: Updates Original BoB/BTR (2/12/2007 10:57:29 PM)

Anyone have the last update for BTR? I found V1.05. I'm having a problem getting to the second planning phase. I click exit from the briefing phase and nothing happens. Could it be windows xp?

Thanks

What OB are you useing?

ElDude -> RE: Updates Original BoB/BTR (2/13/2007 9:25:18 AM)

OB means?

HMSWarspite -> RE: Updates Original BoB/BTR (2/13/2007 11:32:18 AM)

Order of Battle: the mods to the original game were either in the executable (programme) or rather more were in the data files that set up the scenario details. If you don't know about 'OB' you probably have the original, or 'stock' OB, and really should update. Various people here can send you latest OB for either game.

ElDude -> RE: Updates Original BoB/BTR (2/14/2007 1:11:56 AM)

I have the game as it came in the box. I bought this when it first came out. Something happened at that time and the box was shelved. I found it the other day. It was surprising to find since I had been thinking of bringing out my old atari 800 and play USAAF, my all-time favorite computer game.

From the one turn I get to do, this looks like USAAF. Just as slow too.

I'm hoping the latest update will cure the one turn problem. So, if anyone has it, it sure would be helpful to me.

Thanks for explaining OB to me, HMSWarspite (that was a cool ship). A Black Adder fan?

Thanks

Ken

Drop me an Email at csims at qwest dot net with an address where you can get files.

Last I heard your and JCs latest were "author distribute only".  I don't want to step on any toes.  Is there a problem these days with giveing out 106H1 and OB105?

harley -> RE: Updates Original BoB/BTR (2/14/2007 3:22:12 AM)

Sorry, TY - under no circumstance should 106H1 be distributed.

106X5 is the most recent official release.

I can't speak to the OB - I had permission to distribute that at the time, but have volunarily withdrawn it as we haven't had contact with the author for some time.

Thanks,  I thought so re H1.

I was under the impression that JC had reapeared after some personel issues.  I guess I should really drop buy here more often.

In another context, yes [;)].

But mostly just an HMS Warspite fan!

Arnir -> RE: Updates Original BoB/BTR (4/2/2007 2:50:31 AM)

Sorry to pile on another thread, but I found my BoB disk and installed it today. It is version 1.0 (I bought it when it was first released).  Can anyone direct me to the 1.02 patch?

Not sucking up, but I really am looking forward to Matrix's version of these great titles.   (Now to find my BtR disc).

I am a bit wary of getting the HPS new game as the scope of the GG titles really interest me.  I am debating finding BoB 2 in the interim, but I think I should just keep the money for Matrix's game.

edit: Thanks to all who responded via PM. I was able to find the 1.02 update on GameSpot.
