How does this work? I was flying long range cap over one of my bases and 3 pilots of note were shot down, 1 rescued and 2 captured. Kinda odd. There was a reason why england lasted as long as it did.

It's an old problem. Once in awhile your pilots will suffer an aircraft failure, bail out and be captured over your own territory. It has been known to happen to allied pilots in Canada, even!

It happened to me over San Francisco. And it was an ace pilot too.
