boggyjr -> Simming ET Question... (2/6/2007 3:39:26 AM)

It's been a while since I've posted here...

I just wanted to know how long it takes to sim an individual, 15 minute quarter game without the ball animation in the next release/build/beta....whatever comes out next...game in Maximum Football. My biggest complaint about 1.3.139 is how long it takes to sim each game. Before, it would take 15-30 seconds to sim a game, with a 4-game week done in around 2-3 minutes. Now, each game takes around a minute, and it's a pain trying to sim my NFL 1972 season, when it takes 30-45 minutes to sim ONE WEEK, and that doesn't include the F9 bug that comes up around every 2-3 games...

I greatly appreciate how well the on-field play is, but since I still am a student, and usually have an hour worth of homework every night, it's nice to get home, sim a season, do my homework, come back to the computer, and find the season finished, so I can play out the playoff games myself.

I have tried to sim games and leave the computer alone, but if I come back an hour later, it has the F9 bug. I exit the game, and see that it's only after the first game of week 2. Quite annoying, isn't it.

I'll wait patiently for the next beta release, but I just wanted to share my thoughts with the sim engine. It produces decent, realistic stats, but it takes an extremely long time to go through a season.

Marauders -> RE: Simming ET Question... (2/6/2007 6:16:04 AM)

The new builds do take longer to sim out a game that the old ones did.  I am not sure why.

I know there are more checks in place to make sure the rules and stats come out correctly, but I am not certain what else would have the sim games advance more slowly.

The known F9 bug not withstanding, the ball animation (moving back and forth on the field) slows things up a bit because the next play doesn't execute until the ball has finished.

To help speed up the simulation, I've added the option to not animate the ball. Sim games take in or about 30 seconds again if that option is turned off.

LOL.. I should add a cavet to that statement..

Sim games take in or about 30 seconds again if that option is turned off.  - Depending on your computer specs [:)]

Slower machines may take a little longer... I have an old laptop that can't play the 3D portion of the game (it's just not up to snuff in that regard) and it takes about a minute or so to play a quick sim game. Still... it shouldn't take 2 or 3 minutes like you're seeing now.

Yeah, I simmed a week in my AFL season before I left for school this morning. I thought it would take around 10 minutes, but it took so long, I was almost late for school!

I wonder what excuse I'd pick from on the attendance sheet if I was late...

I know im kinda off topic, but as a Star Trek fan, no way I pass this up.

The above pic has got to be JJ Abrams casting for the new Trek movie of a
young Kirk and Spock(as the rumors seem to indicate)

Just need pointy ears on the kid in blue, unless its actually McCoy

David Winter -> RE: Simming ET Question... (2/8/2007 3:23:45 AM)

I would think that would need to be McCoy. When Kirk was that young, Spock was already a Vulcan adolescent...

not that I'm a Star Trek geek or anything.. Oh.. and I really wish they'd broadcast the HD revamped ST:TOS here in Canada.. but the CBS affiliate that we get our feed from won't broadcast it..
