Hertston -> MMCCIII (2/13/2007 2:20:09 AM)

So where do I find the multiplayer version of MMCCIII, then, as it seems to be a mod? Can't find it at CCO.

Twotribes -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 2:25:20 AM)

For Campaigns can one play solo on the server? or only on home PC?

Future -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 2:37:57 AM)

For the first time user of MMCCIII it is highly recommended that you read the MMCCIII manual.

To access this use the link in the Command Centre "Manuals" and then select the MMCCIII Manaul.

Or you can access the manual via 'Start, Programs, Close Combat Cross of Iron, Documentation, MMCCII'

Andrew Williams -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 2:41:10 AM)

Use ModSwap to install the Multiplayer version. (read manual)

You can play solo on the multiplayer server, that is against the AI... you battles win/lose will register so everyone else can see.

7A_CavScout -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 2:46:16 AM)

What are the IP and port numbers to access the MP Campaign for MMCCIII?

I have read the bloody manual. I see what I assume is the plugin having gone looking for it, but I click on Mod Swap and it does nothing. The Mod Swap manual says there should be a shortcut in the start menu - there isn't. Perhaps unsurprising as I can't find the file in the main directory?!

7A_CavScout -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 2:58:06 AM)

From the Mod Swap interface, click on File>Install and then the file for MMCCIII MP.

Future -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 2:59:18 AM)

And 3 of us just tested that to see that it installed with ModSwap and it did.

Mine obviously didn't. I'll try re-installing.

EDIT: Ah.. mystery seemingly explained. Sort of. For some reason the Command Centre setup didn't run when I first installed. Wondering if (re)installing the net framework and whatever the other one was messed it up somehow.

Andrew Williams -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 3:15:43 AM)

File/Install then you may have to navigate to your \program files\close combat\plugins folder

you should only have to do this once, if at all, ModSwap will remember the lacation  after the first time

You will be asked to install Command Centre after you have installed CoI. Make sure you don't miss that one out.

Erm, yeah.. that bit I could figure out. The program not actually having been installed did cause a tiny hiccup in that process, though. [;)] All sorted now.

I wasn't asked (perhaps for the reason I suggested?), and I didn't. Or at least I don't think I was. OK on the re-install, though.

Andrew Williams -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 4:15:03 AM)

MMCCIII up and running NOW!!!

ravinhood -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 4:22:51 AM)

So we have to play "online" to use this feature? Yeah I know here's your sign. lol But, what exactly is the real purpose of this since we can play campaign games offline against the computer as well can't we?

KG_Absolute -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 4:27:14 AM)

Unable to connect to MMCC3.  When I connect to server the response is:  failed to open connection to Server at port: 1028.  Probably server no longer exist....

Not sure if that is me or the MMCC3 Java.net server, please advise.

Andrew Williams -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 4:37:56 AM)

Server 1028 is the single player version.

Use modswap to install the multiplayer version and then connect online

IP 204.13.13.17 ports 2108, 2109 or 2110..... a choice of 3 online servers.

but

If you want to play the single player version, launch the MMCC3 server first from your \close combat III\server folder

tigercub -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 10:57:53 AM)

having same problem! will reinstall!

tigercub -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 11:09:37 AM)

i need to read better it just looks like it wants to install twice!

Yes, but you can't play Massive Multiplayer unless you are online [:)]

Would that be 'massive multiplayer' or the (novel, I grant) single-player 'massive multiplayer'? [;)] I think it's the latter that is causing confusion.

Beeblebrox -> RE: MMCCIII (2/13/2007 9:24:20 PM)

Confusion there certainly can be!  It's hard not to associate the CoI game when describing MMCCIII because the intimately act together, BUT operate independantly.

You can have any numner of player ON the MMCCIII STrategic Map battling for Sectors, but any CoI Battle is going to be CoI and nothing to do with MMCCIII, so H2H is all you have got.

Then just as you thought the mists were clearing, you find that you can fight your CoI Battles in Single Player OR H2H.  Then the Coup de Grace is delivered when you find out there is a Single Player Server!!!

I would welcome any simple one liners to describe this!...[&:]

tigercub -> RE: MMCCIII (2/14/2007 8:51:14 AM)

its all good but the mmcc3 needs a chat interface! besides teamspeak.[:o][:o][:o][:o][:o][:o][:o] for get what i was blabing about!

Andrew Williams -> RE: MMCCIII (2/14/2007 11:53:10 AM)

Try using BHQ in conjunction with MMCCIII.

then, if you're game, fire up teamspeak to hear your opponent wail as as you blow away his T34's

Beeblebrox -> RE: MMCCIII (2/14/2007 4:39:38 PM)

Yes, until we engineer a chat service into the engine (is on the agenda for subsequent releases), TeamSpeak actually does work very well on the whole.

edoras -> RE: MMCCIII (2/14/2007 10:40:25 PM)

Hi there,
I have an issue when launching MMCCIII MP  .. I get the following error message (just after the popup where you choose which side you want to play):
Failed to Extract Units First time..\Games\Save\CC3Start

I have checked and have no such directory ... I am not sure what I am doing wrong ...   I have installed MMCCIIIMultiplayer in the Close Combat ModSwap Utility .. so it should be working ?

Erik Rutins -> RE: MMCCIII (2/15/2007 12:05:57 AM)

Edoras,

I'm not sure - hopefully one of the Simtek folks can figure this out. All I had to do was install it using ModSwap, type in the server and port info in the MMCCIII manual and I was off to the races.

Regards,

- Erik

edoras -> RE: MMCCIII (2/15/2007 12:16:04 AM)

Hi there,

My brother sent me the CC3Start which was in fact a file ... I put it in Games/Save directory and now everything is ok.  Don't know why I did not have the file in the first place though ...

Neither do I.  It should have been put there by the installer [&:]

Alan_Bernardo -> RE: MMCCIII (2/15/2007 2:49:10 PM)

Is it possible to host a MMCCIII game?
