Dino -> Advantage of CPS-1 radar (2/24/2007 5:14:54 PM)

In early '43 allied LCUs start getting new CPS-1 radar...I can see in the database that its range and effect values are better than old SCR type, but how does this translate in the game terms? What specific benefits should i expect to see from the new equipment?

Another (somewhat related) question: Is there any pattern as to which units get priority for equipment upgrade? It seems like the units loaded on ships were the first ones that were upgraded, but it doesn't seem to be consistent.

Hello Dino...I suggest you go to the Scenerio mod sub forum(right above) and find the thread concering radar. There are complete descriptions of each type, with ranges, date of entry, purpose of each type,etc.

Also, see this:

I wouldn't be suprised that unit which is higher in database gets its equipment added or upgraded first.

You'll, more often than not, get most/all of your fighters scrambling to intercept a raid, even if you've set a low CAP %. Also you're more likely to get the "bounce" in A2A combat if you're fighting within range of radar sets.

Thanks for all the responses.

@m10bob...It seems that "pearls are at the bottom of the sea"...I had to take a really deep breath there. [:D]

@Monter...All other things being equal, you are probably right. What started me wondering was the fact that, once new radar was in production, I couldn't initially find any units on the map that were receiving it. Finally discovered that the first couple of units that were upgraded were all loaded on ships.

I noticed this behavior before, while air-transporting Chinese LCUs. The units being transported were first ones to get new AT guns...which really wasn't so cool since new guns were not air-transportable. [:(]

@ctangus...This is what I was aiming at, but having read the detailed discussion in Scenario Forum, there seems to be a whole new set of questions popping up. I think I'll just settle for the fact that new radar is better than the old radar. [:)]

I simply believe that many things in this game are so simply done, that only database slot order matters.
