robpost3 -> How many of you wonder the way I do? (2/25/2007 7:23:13 AM)

I was just thinking today of life in general...
I accomplished quite a bit today...I passed a 92 lumina to some one who needed it...I myself received a great 1999 dodge ram...33K for miles mint++++garaged and babied...help my neighbors move into there new house...split 16 cu ft of wood, I am thinking about going back to school for radiology...I am 40 this year so change is scary...and since 9/11 a war has been going on...among the stuff in my life, parents are accepting the loss of their children in the war, the adamant agreeance of the troops to stay there till things are settled...and I notice a commitment to get past this time to one of unity...so you the reader; what do you see, what could be...please add your thougts...

11Bravo -> RE: How many of you wonder the way I do? (2/25/2007 2:41:17 PM)

I keep one eye on the future and one eye on the past and tripping over stuff in the present. Every day I learn something new and often its something that conflicts with what I learned previously. I have travelled the world in search of an honest man and in the process found only myself. I have noted that sometimes the glass is half empty, sometimes its half full, and sometimes it twice too big. When I was 18 I knew it all. I thought I would remember it all so I didn't write anything down. Now I find I could have used those notes...

Ah, life...

Just when you think youv'e got it cornered...

It nips round behind you and bites your bum.

As Marvin the paranoid android said, "Don't talk to me about life."

Best wishes,

Teach your Grandchildren to be Muslims. They may have a life then.

I marvel at the lives I helped create and am shaping (Megan and Anna) every single day. Just amazing and wonderful. [8D]

Well coupled with a post somewhere else CS, I would suggest your first question should have been are they at least 18? Followed by the offer if the answer were yes ).

Any dowry would and should go to your father.[;)]

Though he might pay Goblin to get rid of you.[8D]

Remember, once you produce a few grandchildren, you are expendable; most certainly Fungible(tm).

Huskalator -> RE: How many of you wonder the way I do? (2/27/2007 5:39:32 AM)

I have currently been marveling at the human capacity for self deception.  When you really think about how much we decieve ourselves in our every day lives it kinda blows your mind.  We see it every day in others and it is so comforting to decieve ourselves that it really doesn't get much notice.

I'm a big believer in evolutionary psychology and I love to think about how self deception came about and what kinds of advantages it gives people.  We generally think of it as a negative thing but in fact I believe it gives us, as individuals, more advantages than disadvantages, especially the incompetent.  If slower people did not decieve themselves they would be paralyzed by indecision because they would know that their choice of action would very likely be the incorrect one.

Sorry.  That was really, really random but thats what has been on my mind the past few weeks.

I guess to bring this back somewhat on topic, I like to analyze the behavior of those around me and it gives me insight on my own life and actions.

...I agree with you deep breakfast...
...self deception can and should be a positive process...
...It is probably the basis for striving to better ones self, against the odds sort of mindset...
...it is propbably one of the most fundemental traits of the "human condition", thanks for the post...I started it late at night hoping to have folks just sort of add their ruminations, after-thoughts and bad habits etc...so by no means is anything off topic...
cheers!

Zap -> RE: How many of you wonder the way I do? (2/27/2007 7:06:10 PM)

Another reflection, when we're young so often not wise enough to deal with life well. When we reach a certain age we realize we could have done things better. Some people say they have no regrets(for past actions, thoughts). I would say this outlook would fall under the category of self-deception. Others wish they could start over.

Me, I realize its too late to start over but I try and change my present behavior and thinking. The disappointing thing is that this effort in ernest has begun at 50 years old for me. Sometimes Throughout life I've done some pretty good things for people but a lot of times I've been selfish.

Moments when we have life chages.

Having children

Serious illness

Like for me this week I go in for a docotr visit (have not seen one in 15 years) I know he will have some sobering news for me.

I hear you Zap...wisdom is only aquired through time...as they say youth is wasted on the young...somebody on the Steel Panthers forum has a great moniker, I forget who...anyway it goes: Growing old but not up...so hindsight can get you down so kick it in the hind quarters.
As far as the docs concerned hope all is well...remember alot of health is positive thinking...Its like the auto mechanic, they will find something if you look far enough, so be wary, specially with these pill pushers nowadays...as far change goes yer never too old to do it...I just got married for the first time 3 years ago...
talk about waiting for the right one...[8|]
...Sometimes the the late blooming flower is the sweetest scented...
...Holy Moley did I just get freakin soppy...

shunwick -> RE: How many of you wonder the way I do? (2/27/2007 7:52:32 PM)

Yes,

Not only that but "Holy Moley" gets you put in the sin bin. If you're not careful you'll become the kind of person that says "yes indeedy".

Best wishes,

robpost3 -> RE: How many of you wonder the way I do? (3/3/2007 7:29:15 AM)

sometimes it's just right...you carve a bit of the chaos and make some perpetuation...you hold onto your balls and make things right...you fight the fight thats right...you care beyond that that is yourself: grander pictures that fit in this universe, hope that kindles a space ride to the stars: perhaps the monkey shines, perhaps the dragonfly reins...dunno...you grab random stardust, atoms, perspex, hold but release that which flows...a new day as the dawn askew shows new horizons...perhaps all this trepidation is just growing pains but perhaps it is a real cry to arms...
