Wolfie1 -> RE: Abreviation (2/25/2007 12:55:59 PM)

Check out Pages 208/209 of the manual - it's in .pdf format with the game.

wdolson -> RE: Abreviation (2/25/2007 1:46:47 PM)

It's section 19 of the manual.

heenanc -> RE: Abreviation (2/25/2007 2:11:35 PM)

O.k I get the impression that AD, AR, AGP's, AV and AVD's are all repair ships but what's the differents?

Well, you are partly right - AR repairs ships. AD reload torpedoes on DDs, AGP serve PTs, and AV and AVD serve Catalinas and other like planes.[:)]

CAP = Combat Air Patrol (putting fighters on patrol over your airfield or TF (task force).

LRCAP = Long Range CAP - your fighters take off from an airbase and patrol over a different area/hex.

Apparently, my computer thinks so: i tried copying the relevant sections from the manual to a text file, and the program won't let me do it today... even though i KNOW i've done it in the past... i am guessing one of the wonderful "upgrades" of something did in this function. [:(]

heenanc -> RE: Abreviation (2/25/2007 5:48:59 PM)

So getting back to my lack of understanding what are the pro's and cons of have say 100% CAP?

heenanc -> RE: Abreviation (2/25/2007 5:58:30 PM)

Mon ame!!

100% CAP is LRCAP - you can only fly 90% on true CAP - lots of pros and cons, and lots of opinions of pros and cons based on
1) who you are playing
2) what modification you are playing (if any)
etc.

Would need more details to make any discussion more meaningful.

heenanc -> RE: Abreviation (2/25/2007 6:11:46 PM)

So if you had a 100% CAP you would put all you fighters on patrol over the airfield and leave none to attack? 0% would free them all for attack?

Ol_Dog -> RE: Abreviation (2/25/2007 6:46:43 PM)

right

No - not all of your fighters. The number of aircraft that actually get into the air is based on things like moral, airfield size, leader ratings like air, base support, supplies, HQ units that are in range... Things are not often "simple" in this game - [:D].

True - not all your fighters, but (essentially) all your AVAILABLE fighters. Keep in mind normally you can only 90% of fighters assigned to local CAP - giving a 10% reserve of "available" aircraft.

LRCAP is the only thing with 100% fighter assignment - and what happens then (depending on distance to the covering base) you have only a percentage on station at one time - others are flying to and from the area being covered, being refueled, etc.
