Denial is a river in Egypt!

And it is for wimps!

Just think of it as giving to the "charity" of gaming developers. You are donating your money to keep them off of the streets (but not off of drugs and booze... I mean, lets face the reality of computer game development).

haha...you gentlemen are pretty humourous...

I was going to comment that, "Now you are just baiting Ravin, (seems to be a popular passtime around these parts)" but I didn't think I had enough seniority around here to stir the pot like that!

I'm relatively sure that Mr. Ravin... uh... Mr. Hood? Whatever... I'm pretty sure he can hold his own in a battle of wits! [sm=duel.gif]

Me... I'm not so sure.

Anyway, to return to topic - I buy too many games already, but soooo many end on the shelf - i bought company of heroes based on the reviews it got on gamerankings.com (94% or some such). Installed it played it a few times and now it sits on the shelf. Should have known better than to think I'd enjoy an RTS (except for HttR, that is my favourite RTS ;)).

Speaking of RTS's, the game that really interested me at the moment is Harpoon III...seems like it has tons of immersion potential and would be something that I could come home a play for an hour after work and actually finish a scenario. How quickly does it actually play?

Anybody have any experience with the cd version of winSPWW2? I do have it and the latest patch myself, and I'm thinking of diving into it in a couple of weeks (vacation) but for now I'm just picking long campaign forces. I'm curious how the new reaction fire is working, as it sounds like it would bring quite a bit more to the game and in particular it would fascinate me if anybody had played it long enough to see if the AI had used it very well. I would guess the AI would not be too terribly good with it on the first patch introducing the new reaction fire, but would like to hear about anybody's opinions on it just now.

Basically the new reaction fire is the old one with a filter. You can tell your units individually what to shoot at, at what range, at what minimum and maximum armor thickness, what range to engage infantry, and a few other filters that can be used. As some of you know, it's not like the SPWAW system where the user can pick two opportunities to select a target during the enemy turn, so it lacks that direct human input to a degree, and though I see the merits of both systems while the enemy is processing his turn, this filtering could weed out a lot of hypersensitive shooting we have seen so much. At least from the conceptional angle it would be a way to allow free-flow reaction fire without part or all of that fire having the disadvantage of targeting the first thing that moves, or having practically unlimited opfire.
