Hi Gil. I've encountered a problem that I haven't seen raised in the forum, and it's brought my game to a screeching halt.

Playing the Confederate, I've occupied Kaskasia but find that I can't besiege Cairo. When I open the Engineer Orders menu and hit siege I get an empty box - well, empty apart from the Canncel option. I own adjacent provinces (Kentucky joined the Confederacy so I have both Paducah and Bowling Green) and I've even had the 'x number of turns unrest' message and they've expired. But Cairo still sits there, garrisoned, and blue as a lizard's tongue.

I'm figuring that's not meant to happen. I'd appreciate some feedback - and a solution would be even better. Ta.

Hi,

U opening the Engineer Orders menu in Kaskasia?

Cause Cairo is located in the river area Central Miss R. Its next to Kaskasia, between that and Paducah.
Having ur siege force there and opening should up the Engineer Orders menu in the Central Miss R. area should fix ur problem, if i understand the problem correctly.
Granted to see that some times the cities are located in the river area's can be tricky.

Kind Regards,

Rasmus

That's probably it. Let us know if it wasn't.

Many thanks, Walloc. That was it indeed. At a single stroke you've made me feel both relieved and stupid. Really appreciate your help.

To Gil and the design team - Ooooh Ahhh! I'd played and enjoyed Crown of Glory so figured that this would be a walk-up start. Not so! This looks like it might turn out to be something really special. Very exciting.

Thanks!

It's been a long time since I played the unpatched release version, so I'm not positive, but I think the patch has ways of making it more clear which province you're dealing with. (In other words, I know that such a feature is on my computer, I just can't remember if you're playing with it... yet.)

Having now played the game through to conclusion, I can't compliment you too highly on your decision to introduce 'river provinces'. What a simple and elegant way of injecting the importance of the Mississippi into the game. In my book that's really smart design.
