Barrold -> Crashes in Detailed Battles...Could just be me (4/1/2007 5:53:14 PM)

Heydee Ho

I am getting a consistent crash when in detail battles, but the error I am receiving is telling me that the game is trying to save to a bad block on my hard drive. I have run chkdsk /f afterwards and I don't get this in any other application I am running so I am hoping this is a FoF issue and not my hard drive. Any suggestions either way would be appreciated.

I'll email my save games just in case, but if I'm looking at a new hard drive, I might have to cry. Well, first I would curl up in a fetal position and then I would cry.

The featl position makes everthing olay.:) I'm playing detailed battles with only .75 gig ram and have not experienced any crashes. My hard drive is maxed out too. It will crash if I try to run anything with FOF.

Thanks Barrold, got the save files.  At what point in the game does this crash happen after the load?

The crash is consistently in the detailed battle, but I haven't yet discerned a specific point.  I will make a move and a telling delay will occur, shortly followed by the crash message.  It typically has allowed me to play for some time before hanging.

I have defragged and such after the first occurrence.  I am wondering if reinstalling would perhaps change the block where the game is attempting to save or access to, but I'll wait to see what happens.  Since I have real work to do, it is not a horrible thing not to be playing...although later I will see if I can reproduce it more specifically.

Thanks.

For giggles, I performed another chkdsk /f again and paid attention to the any indication of bad sectors and I don't get any bad messages when I look in my Event Viewer.

I am going to start another game and see what happens.
