rhohltjr -> AI in Southwest region (4/2/2007 3:37:02 PM)

Since Witp is so large I let the AI handle some areas. This time I am letting the AI run everything but the East region and whatever region India is in. I am wondering if the AI in Australia is waiting for some triggering event to actually start doing something.

It hasen't done anything except put a 3 plane squadron of Hudsons in Port Moresby. If the Japanese capture Port Moresby will that trigger an AI response? Howabout mainland Australia? Just wondering. I know some things are event driven or are triggered. The Australia AI is asleep right now. As is the South Pacific AI. Is there a certain game date that must be reached? Also since I am using the latest CHS did that screw up the Australian AI???

Thanks in advance.

I would HIGHLY recommend NOT using the AI to control any region. If you do, you will have odd things happening, like TFs in other areas not going where it is suppose to when the computer redirects them.

You can leave India/China under AI control. You will see some strange moves by the AI but the British forces will start to attack in 1943. The AI moves are mostly not very clever or sophisticated.

The other areas you mentioned should not be left under AI control. If AI controls Australia/Papua New Guinea it will interfer with your Central Pacific/South Pacific actions. For instance, air groups based in Port Moresby and other areas nearby can't be fully controlled by the human player, meaning whatever orders you give will be countermanded by AI EVEN if AI seemingly does not control that area. You will also see some LCUs "warping" (moving across the sea).

How AI (in any area) is triggered to act if left alone I do not know.

Cheers
Rainer

Thanks Rainer, In my first marathon game I had India / China under AI and was
impressed that they actually started to move around and attack the Japanese eventually.

I (of cource ) think I can do a much better job than the India AI did and I am controlling that area this time. However I need to let some other things go on AI in order to make it fun for me(not a micromanager). I was wondering if the Devs or anyone has noticed when the AI in Australia / New Guinea will wake up and do something.[:'(]

If the Japanese actually invade the United States, I know that triggers quite a response,
so I am wondering the same thing about the Australian AI.

I'd like to play (against AI) the British campaign, meaning leaving all of the US areas under computer control (including Australia) and China. I'm sure Don and Joe would be interested in the outcome.
However, at this time I'm quite occupied with my current campaign US vs Japan (game date April 44). And AI is giving me a real challenge, despite what all the wise people here say about AI.

Note on the side: looks like Players against AI are quite underrepresented here in the forums. We should form a coalition, or is it termed "pressure group" these days? ;)

Cheers
Rainer

I think those who play exclusively PBEM are just louder by default.and not as overnumbering as it seems...[8D]

Then let's feed in more decibel [;)]

Seriously, I believe there are much more players who can't/won't use PBEM but they also do not participate here as well.
