StLee -> Need some league setup suggestions (4/13/2007 7:42:11 AM)

I am undertaking a large task by creating my "dream" NCAA league, containing a total of 128 NCAA teams (meaning I "promoted" eight teams to Division I-A to make the league playoff perfect--let me know if you want to see how I formed the conferences and divisions).

In setting up my league, I want to make sure I can get things right. Obviously my biggest wish, an advanced schedule editor, isn't available yet, so I will make do on the scheduling for now.

These are the things where I need help and your help is appreciated:
1) First, because I read through the manual and did not see it, and did a search on here and did not see it, what EXACTLY is the import rule? Standard seems to be set at 45%, but I don't know what that does.

2) I am trying to decide what to do with the draft. I could use it as a "recruiting" tool. Then again, it seems like it would level the playing field too much. Initially, I want to try to tweak the teams towards a more realistic set up, as though the NCAA were indeed forming a 128-team, eight-conference, sixteen-division setup.

3) Because I have only experimented with the professional leagues so far, I was wondering if anyone has tried the college/junior league setup. Are players randomly started at the virtual freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior levels, or are they all set up as virtual freshmen to start? If so, can I tweak those to have a constant roster turnover?

That's all I have for now. I went through the process of looking up all teams' stadiums along with attendance and field style, though I doubt some are accurate. For example, I found a site that had Temple playing in Veterans Stadium, but that stadium has been demolished, right?

I also want to give a shout out to all the people who have designed college uniforms. Once the 120 are done, I'll see if I can't ask for a special favor to get the other eight teams included. Hell, maybe someone will tackle the Division I-AA uniforms eventually anyway.

Please give me some feedback! It will be appreciated!

Heres a couple answers to qoestions . Import rule is for canadian football . Up there you can only have so many americans on each team . Hence import . As for temple university , they now play at Lincoln Financial att is 68,532 , and its grass field . Other questions , no answer hav`nt played college yet , but since making unis will set up a league to. Maybe as big as what you listed .

A potential problem ATM will be your draft, because the game sets up the draft in alphabetical order for the initial stock draft, so Akron could be a potential powerhouse while West Virgina (I couldn't resist [:D]) and Wisconsin could be perennial losers for a while.

Yeah, I thought about it some more and decided that I would not use the draft. What I will do instead is specifically monitor the league for the first few seasons and then "let nature take its course." The way I set up the league, I would hope that parity comes through.

As big as this project is, I may only get to play the college season in real time. It may take a full year per season. But first I want to get the league set up by the end of August (with all of the editing of players to simulate a comparable NCAA talent level).

Thanks for the import question answer!

EDIT: Oops! I meant this to be in reply to DonMVP.

I've got a league set up with all the real conferenes, and divisions. I've actually been putting in the actualy rosters which is a huge undertaking.
