I think comparing OOTP to Puresim is apples to oranges. I think a better option would be Baseball Mogul 2008 to Pure Sim. BM is a very simple game with plenty of depth to keep your interest but not so much as to be overwhelming.

I like to manage all games so I was never really into baseball mogul since it didn't let you do it. In 2007 it let you but I was always driven off by the interface. I love Puresims ball flight animation, ambient sounds, different ball parks for each team, importing of logos, etc. It made for a better experience for me.

I just got the demo for BM 2008 and it is much improved. I don't think you can change the ballpark view but you now have a ball flight animation. Plus it comes with the 2007 rosters with "1500 actual hand drawn minor leaguers" which is nice compared to the probably 20 hours I have to put into puresim rosters after the lahman database comes out each year. Additionally, the interface is much nicer than in years past and the stats are very deep as always.

It also includes some favorites we keep asking for here like 40-man rosters, etc.

Obviously I haven't played too much of BM so I don't know about the accuracy of the game's sim engine or other things (injuries and trades were always crazy as a remember from a few years back). And it won't replace puresim since this is a game I really enjoy since my console days ended in 05 with Acclaim going bankrupt and no longer making All Star Baseball for the XBox. But I would still love your opinions on the BM especially if you have or have played 08 extensively.

I am enjoying BB Mogul 2008 as much as Pure Sim.

It's my understanding the game engine is underwhelming and can result in some pretty crazy stats.  All hearsay from the OOTP forums.  I found the Pursim engine to do a pretty good job, however I can't say one way or another.
