Lefty -> error using Vista (5/3/2007 11:14:16 AM)

PLEASE HELP!!!!
I am trying to install PureSim on my new laptop (Windows Vista) and it isn't working. The opening screen opens up fine, but when I click Play it gives me the following error message: " Unexpected Error; quitting" and then the game won't load. I have all of the install and update files from version 1.00 through version CE5. When I install version 1.00 I get the following error message during the install:
"Failed to Register COM (ActiveX) control C:\PureSim Baseball
2007\dxg222.dll
Failure in LoadLibrary() (126)"
The game continues to install after that but then I get the previous error message when I click Play. I tried installing the version 1.51 file and it installs without the second error message I mentioned above. However, when I click Play I get the fist error message above.

Shaun, please help...I'm going through withdrawals. The game worked fine on my previous computer running XP.

Thanks,
Tom

Re-install, but with one change: Right click on the install program and choose "Run as Administrator" let me know if that helps. I am running Vista, and PureSim supports Vista fully, so I think we should be able to get you up and running.

Shaun,

I was having the same problem he was. I answered him in his other thread here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1450239

Thanks for the help Shaun and Frozen Stiffer....unfortunately, neither solution worked!  I'm still getting the same "Unexpected error; quitting" message.

now what?????

Ok, nevermind, it worked after all!!!  Shaun, I thought you meant to click on "Run as Administrator" when installing the game.  I clicked on it when starting the game and it worked fine.

Do I need to do this always?  Is there any work around to this?

Tom

Right-click on the icon, then go to Properties. There will be a tab for "Compatibility", much like there was for XP. Select that and you'll see "Run As Administrator" (or something of that nature) as a check-able option.

Enjoy!
