Graf Speer -> Landrey might be off topic, but here goes . . . :) (8/27/2000 11:54:00 AM)

Just downloaded the Matrix update of classic WIR. Thanks! Pacific War due out sooner. Matrix is on a roll! As I viewed the credits to WIR, I am reminded to note David Landrey's part in the original "Game Development" team for both these classic games. So . . . with Landrey deftly serving Speer's off-topic segue , I am also reminded of Landrey's Novastar Game Company support for those numerous Steel Panther add-on campaign and scenario disks I purchased. This is when it struck me like a morning bolt of Starbuck's 14 proof Cafe Grande . . . how about a Matrix team update of Battles of Napoleon? -- the Kroegel & Landrey 1988 classic, featuring an excellent tactical system, editor, and well conceived variable AI routine . . . . Is there any conceivable off-topic chance that the Matrix Games Team could obtain the rights to effect a similar update / facelift of BON? Any interest at all? I'd like to see something like that too**, but who controls the rights to BoN now? It may simply be impossible. You know, having BoN to play out the battles generated in WoN just might put those folks wanting to link the tactical with the strategic into a state of ecstasy. ** In all honesty though I hope Matrix works first on strategic titles before going back to tactical stuff. [Maybe we should move this thread somewhere else?] [This message has been edited by Ed Cogburn (edited August 27, 2000).]

Hello... When I worked as the lead programmer at Novastar, I apporached Mr. Landrey about a remake of BoN. He had no interest. The chances on this are pretty much nill. Matrix is working a game of type type, but with another programmer, Frank Hunter. Bye... Michael Wood Lead Programmer, Matrix Games

Yes, Thanks Mike . . . I can't fault Landrey if he is not interested given his original 'trials' with the original publisher. . . . as for moving this dead end off-topic somewhere else, I had hoped this was the best place to generate a purposeful response and so it did, I believe. So consider moving it if you wish, but I would prefer just to move along. Thanks, Ed, for your gracious indulgence Albert

Wild Bill -> (8/28/2000 4:13:00 AM)

There is a project that does not involve directly the Battles of Napoleon game as such, but look for an SP game dealing with 19th Century warfare. I may get in trouble for mentioning it, but I thought you should know that it is a distinct possibility. Let's hope it can become reality...Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

I didn't mean my suggestion about moving the thread to be sarcastic or anything, I just figured a discussion about Napoleonic warfare might get more responses in a forum other than the heavily used WWII tactical forum of SPWaW (WoN perhaps?). Sorry about that.

Hi Ed, Yikes . . . it never dawned on me to check out the Napoleonic site Thanks, I will check it out Albert
