I have run a league from 1876 (National League only), with the American League joining in 1901. My league is now in 1943. I seem to have a constant offensive explosion, even though I am using all of the old ball parks for the 16 team association. Here are some of the season records:
I have one player who has retired with a .390 batting average. At least 10 players have career batting averages over .378.
In 1940, I had a player hit .497 in a season. In fact, there are quite a few players each year hitting well-over .400.
My homerun record is 33. (259 is the career high).
All of my top 10 single season hit records are over 272 (one guy topped out at 316 in 1936).
BTW, only one pitcher has won 24 games in a season prior to 1911. Career leader in wins has 284, the rest have 247 or less.
