In AI game as allies, late-42. Several times in Marshalls I've spotted Japanese single ship TFs with a submarine icon but an AP/AK label.

Is this a bug, an attempt at FOW, or other? Does others' experience indicate I should believe the icon, or the label, or neither?

FOW.

It's a sub.

I have recently 'spotted' at least one CV at Kwajalein, which despite the 1000 plus air balance in my favour, massive naval air search on and numerous naval Tfs in the same hex seems to have arrived completely submerged - and thanks to some depth charges is staying submerged!

FOW.

That must be a Glen carrying cub there, Roger...

Thanks.

Tonight I had a "BB" and a "CA" deliver supplies to a beseiged Canton. Guess I just never noticed in previous games.

As I guess you figured, this is FOW passing you an incorrect ident from a recce plane.... as occurred (and still does so) in real life. The sub icon, and the fact that a battleship just surfacing off Milne Bay is a tad unlikely, is the giveaway <g>

Pretty good in my view, although more as a sort of 'immersion factor' improver than anything concrete...
